“Most importantly, I should stress again how refreshing it feels to have such a great native experience with Unread. The app is really fast, even when it’s loaded up with hundreds of feeds.”
— Niléane, MacStories

“It’s an RSS reader made with taste. It has great typography, themes, search, and compatibility with the usual suspects. I love having this app on my Mac.”
— David Sparks, MacSparky

“Unread is focused on eliminating chrome — it is a pure reading app. It’s like reader mode all the time, and the assortment of color themes is nicely curated.”

What’s New

Version 4.2.2

I recently added new article actions for GoodLinks and Omnivore. This update incorporates these improvements:

• The Article menu now has a Copy Article Link item with a ⇧⌘C (Shift-Command-C) keyboard shortcut.
• The share popover for an article now includes a Copy Article Link option.
• When Clear Read Items on Manual Refresh is enabled, Mark All Read is always available in article lists limited to unread articles if there is at least one article, even if all articles are already marked read.
• When Clear Read Items on Manual Refresh is enabled, Articles removed as a result of marking all read will be reinstated in the article list upon undo, even those articles that were already marked read. Redoing a Mark All Read operation will not clear read items again.
• The set of undoable commands for a main window is reset when Hide Read Items is toggled under some circumstances, when Clear Read Items is manually invoked, when the selected sidebar item changes, and when search criteria is set or changed.
• This update improves detection of link articles from sixcolors.com that link to podcasts.
• This update improves the display of carscoops.com articles.
• This update incorporates a new set of suggested feeds for new Unread Cloud and Local accounts.
• Unread will no longer offer to show webpage text for all articles from a feed after switching to webpage text fails.
• This update fixes a bug that made the share popover on Mac accessible for articles that have no URL.
• This update fixes a bug around syncing articles with incorrectly encoded characters from Feedly.

RSS Feed reading made easy

I’ve been Unread for a while now and it is well worth the subscription. The interface can take a bit of getting used to - left and right swipes will reveal all you need depending on where you are in the app. If there was one request it would be to be able to mute articles/mark them as already read based on keyword strings in the individual item titles. I’m not a fan of endless reports on the Soccer World Cup or the Super Bowl.

This is The One

I've used a fair few RSS readers in my time and each one always seemed to be lacking something, and then I tried Unread; I haven't looked at another reader since and I never will, I promise.

But please, please allow me to reverse the sort order to have the older article at the top of the list!

Really nice reader

I'd been looking for something like this for a while. It's beautiful, and almost perfect.

But *please* let reverse the sort order, so that I can read the articles in chronological order! Current, when you get to bottom of an article and drag up, it takes you to the *preceding* one, not the next one! (Hence only 4 stars). But apart from that, perfect.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your kind review. You can change the sort order from an article list by swiping the screen to the left, and selecting “Ordering & Grouping” (or just “Ordering” in some cases) from the resulting menu.
