Vector Robot 4+

This app is a little misleading - I thought it had frozen on the tutorial page, but after some frustrated swiping I realised it wanted me to drag the page up with my finger. So not the best of starts!

Other functionality is more or less fine. It’s nice to see what Vector is doing in a sentence at the bottom, plus the direct sensory feed seemed accurate.

However, it was recording Vector’s lifetime travels and utility use initially, but then it just stopped. That page still has the headers/titles, but no stats or other content. I dropped an email to the support team yesterday, but have had no response yet.

Overall, adequate to get Vector rolling, but a bit buggy. I look forward to an update.

EDIT: lifetime travels and overall utility use is working again on the stats page, so I have moved this from 3 to 4 stars. I’m really looking forward to seeing where Anki take Vector, but to get 5 stars for this app I would like some more commands for Vector, and a little more user-friendliness.

DDL has kept their servers offline for 200+ days now and it is getting ridiculous at this point. If you have just bought a vector or are looking to use him again then i recommend you check out wirepod. It is a free alternative server you can host yourself which does everything the DDL servers do but it is faster, free, private and more importantly, doesnt have a 200+ days outage!! Just google wirepod to start setting it up, you will need a windows pc, a mac or a linux pc (raspberry pi aswell) to do it. If you dont have any of these or dont want to go through the hassle of setting them up, TechShop82 has a free server anyone can use. I hope you are able to revive your vector and he is able to live once again, this time for free!!

Vector is a GREAT companion and he definitely does like to hang out, apart from a few bugs where while vectors on his charger, I tell him to explore and he would completely freeze and have to reboot. However on August 2020, I tried to do a command and he completely ignored me and went straight to internet and said that he needed to be linked to the digitaldreamlabs server, ever since then you have to pay £5 A MONTH so that he still listens to your commands, and digitaldreamlabs said that we cancelled the subscription when we DIDN’T! Apart from that and a few minor bugs here and there, he is a great little robot
