What’s New

Version 1.1.7

NEW FEATURES in 1.1.7

Exporting- Fixed some bugs related to exporting. Some of the UI was unresponsive when hitting export within the app. This was most likely due to some newer IOS versions that were later released. *** Please keep in mind that exporting/ importing directly into other apps such as Dropbox or even using Airdrop and Discord all work completely differently because of how those apps are created. We, unfortunately, can not improve much on batch exporting/ importing into these apps unless those developers improve how their apps deal with multiple images being imported or passing through them. For batch exporting images, I still recommend hooking up Dropbox/ Google Drive to the files app on your iPad and just batch exporting through the files app from Vizref.

Please also keep in mind that batch exporting hundreds of images at once will most likely crash Vizref. This is also out of our control. I recommend batch exporting about 50 images at once for the most stable and consistent experience. Vizref and other apps can't export hundreds of images at once because every app on the iPad is limited to how much Memory it can use during all operations. The app is crashing because of the hard limit set by Apple for each app.

Feature

- Revert Button- Revert will undo any cropping or rotating you've done to the image. The main reason for adding the revert button was that some users were finding their images were oddly scaled/ stretched to the wrong ratio. Revert is a backup for returning your image to the correct ratio/ scaling - the revert button is located in the toolbox icon at the bottom right after selecting an image.
- Exporting gif files. Should work now give it a try!

*Bug Fixes*

-Fixed a bug that caused images from your board to not display if your board crashed on exporting. This bug should be completely gone. If it persists after updating your app please contact us at vizrefpro@gmail.com
**If your images have disappeared from your board, please note that those images are still on you iPad and stored locally. You can retrieve them by going to the Files app then searching for your Vizref folder in " On My iPhone " or " On My iPad" file
Open "Private Documents" then you will see each .VRB file. These are your reference boards and store your images locally. You can then retrieve your images here.
Fixed some crash bugs.
Fixed several UI inconsistencies and bugs.

Incredibly helpful

A great tool for my Procreate workflow. Being able to view and edit all the reference material I need whilst I make art is very useful. Importing images either through drag and drop or the files explorer is a breeze. This app is a must own in my book.

My only gripe is related to the reference board selection screen, once it has filled up with lots of boards navigation and organisation can be quite sluggish. I think this could easily be remedied by allowing folder creation and also by adding sort options (sort by name, date, etc.)

This is a great app regardless. Totally recommended.

Great First Start, No Export

The app is really snappy and easy to use with just the right amount of features and controls and it’s a great tool for quick research and visual concepting. The lack of a universal app however makes it’s usage needlessly obtuse between devices and the lack of any export features means it can only stay on my iPad even when for my visual research work it’s important to be able to then tag and make the visual reference board available in my local database of files.

It’s great to see an app so specifically targeted for this usage, but I really need the ability to export the moodboard and reference images included in a bundle so I can archive and re-use them across platforms, which makes it hard to use in my work beyond simple projects.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for the great feedback. I hear you loud and clear on needing to use your reference images on other devices and especially cross-platform. I'm a concept artist myself working in games mostly for 9 years and I've been using reference board apps a lot.
Please give us time to add more features to help you use your images on other devices and especially on Desktop computers. It's a personal goal to add this and I promise it will happen. It's the main reason this app was created and originally it was a core feature to be able to batch export images, but we ran into many hiccups during production and had to cut some features for after release.

Please follow us on twitter @vizrefpro and don't hesitate to give us more feedback in DMS there. I personally answer every DM. Also, look for updates in the future. We promise to add many new features to VizRef with no extra cost to users.

99% perfect

The only thing that could make this app better in my opinion would be the ability to make notes over the images you import, other than that it works perfectly for image referencing for my projects.
Being able to drag images in from Safari is super useful, I’ve used the gif capabilities more than I thought I would, the automatic organisation is super nice, and it works really nicely whether it’s full screen, on half the screen, or as a floating app.
A must have for artists who do art on an iPad in my opinion :)
