Best recipes app by far!

I’ve not cooked for several years, and, feeling very daunted by menu planning etc, I shopped around recipe apps and paid for a few, but Whisk is absolutely by far the best app out there. (I still really miss Recipezaar).

The user interface is very clean and tidy; it’s really great that there’s the option to add recipes to multiple collections, there are really helpful public groups which are regularly updated to look through, plus you can search all recipes by any ingredient.

Whisk is very ethical in retaining links to the original recipe source, so while the app displays the ingredients (which you can add to a shopping list), the instructions will take you back to the original site for the recipe.

The only issues I have are not with Whisk at all, but with the source websites; I saved quite a few recipes from Yummly, but the recipe ingredients aren’t parsed for many of the recipes, which makes Yummly rather pointless, unless you have the time to update each ingredient line with the relevant quantity.

While I’ve read many discussions about people who share recipes for free, which is a very wonderful thing, some of these sites are so bloated with ads and likely script errors that the instruction pages fail to load (in normal browsers as well, not just in Whisk).

If you’re looking for a recipe collation app, look no further!!

Excellent for recipe organisation and planning

I’ve been using Whisk for a couple of weeks and am pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to use. There are some very useful features like the planner, shopping list and ability to scale recipes up and down and switch between Imperial/metric measures. You can organise recipes into folders, and it always refers back to the original, whilst allowing you to save your own customisations.
I tend to use it to handle recipes I have found but obviously it can also provide a lot of inspiration from other users and their collections. I particularly like the nutritional info feature for assessing healthiness of recipes.
A couple of good improvements would be the ability to see a day’s or week’s total nutrition from the planner, and the ability to assign recipes to meals rather than just days. Other than that, it’s excellent and I highly recommend Whisk for helping you keep tabs on and actually use all those recipes you find online.

Best app ever

Has changed our life. Get recipes from anywhere on the net. Plan your recipes for the week. The app automatically adjusts quantities for your number of people. Pop into shopping list with one tap. Check kitchen cupboards for stuff you have already and clear from list with a tap. Order direct or share with family member who is going to supermarket. Intuitive and simple to use. Seamless links. Always works. Nice pictures from recipes. Avoids kitchen waste. If two recipes require beetroot or rice it calculates total quantity required automatically. I love this app and keep telling all my friends about it. Means we have fresh food all the time, has made our cooking more adventurous, saves masses of time. Slick and functional. Everything a good app should be.
