Excellent alternative to SONOS

I started looking for an alternative to Sonos after recent changes to the Sonos app reduced functionality and made it difficult to navigate.

I got a little WiiM mini and I’m just amazed at how slick and easy it is to set up with the app and how easy it is to navigate music, save presets, set alarm and sleep timers and generally do the stuff you want to do. VTuner is a huge plus as it means I can access stations no longer available on Sonos. Great stuff.

Great support and App

I had an IFI zen stream prior to getting the WiiM Pro. It sounded great, but that app was trash and both app and device didn’t receive any updates to fix issues. Having the WiiM Pro has been a great experience so far. It sounds 90% as good as the IFI with an external DAC and the app is very easy to use and more importantly, is receiving regular updates for both software and firmware. It’s a real bargain for the money.

WiiM Home app Issues when using NAS

1. Random playback - track selection from large playlists not working effectively. Once the first track is chosen it selects following tracks, but only a limited number enough to fill the player, It only then randomly selects further tracks from this limited selection.
2. Poor album image quality.
One star for each. These all fine using my other manufactures player. Apart from the above it’s a very good app and works well with Qobuz.
Another star deducted as after 6 months neither issue has been fixed.
