This app is awesome. Being able to very easily switch between different weather info providers is so useful. And being able to compare them all at the same time give you a much more reliable forecast.One thing that I miss from my old weather provider in the chance of rain percentage, but this has so many other useful features / weather info it blows other weather apps away 😉I came across this app via it’s webcams across the world and at first just seemed like a fun gimmick, but actually are really very useful especially when used in conjunction with the satellite views for seeing what’s coming your way, or what it’s like before for you decide to go somewhere. Using the Apple subscription gets you the extra features across all windy logged in devices so you can have all the benefits on your desktop computers web browse too 😀Thanks so much for the latest update and listening to users. Making everything a little bigger, I now no longer need to use screen zoom to use this app 😄

It’s hands down the best weather app I’ve ever used in my daily life as a weather enthusiast! The app has a bunch of useful weather layers that give you all the info you need about the weather now and what’s coming up. The radar and satellite images are super clear and detailed, so you can easily spot any weird weather patterns! And all the other layers such as temperature, precipitation, cloud cover, humidity, all in different global and local models like UKV and ECMWF is such a game-changer for us meteorologists!Windy’s interface is super intuitive, making it a breeze to use. And the best part? You can customize the color scheme for different weather layers! I love this feature because it helps me quickly understand the dataWindy is an exceptional weather app, but there are a few things I’d love to see in the future that could make it even better:* Notifications for upcoming precipitation, like rain or snow, would be useful, ensuring I’m prepared for last-minute weather changes* Differentiating precipitation types on radar and radar+ (such as rain, sleet, snow, ice pellets, etc) would be useful for tracking all sorts of weather conditions live* Dedicated layers for auroras (space weather) and lightning (without radar) would be valuable, especially for those interested in these phenomena* Notifications for weather warnings and nearby lightning (within miles or km) timely alerts would be beneficial for safety and preparednessWindy is an absolute must-have weather app! I find Windy extremely helpful. The hourly plotting capability for a passage is particularly helpful and well worth the almost £19 a year. I am finding understanding the various use of colours in the thunder storm predictions a little confusing and have not found guidance on this easy to find or easy to understand. I also find the moving dashes in the waves displace unhelpful. I can’t make out where they are going and why they are in two colours. We also had the misfortune to be caught in a force 8 storm lasting for 3 hours that was not predicted and even three hours later the area was still showing minus .5 waves and 10 Kts of winds. But I put that down to there still being an element of forecasting remaining a judgement, not totally a science. It has made me very cautious of relying on forecasts. I suppose I need to watch a u tube presentation tutorial but everything seems geared to the American way of speaking which as a Brit I find a bit difficult to listen to.

There are so many apps like this on the App Store and it’s a minefield knowing which one to purchase. Some of them cost a fortune a month and I have been struggling what to do. I Paddleboard on the sea and open water swim so don’t need to plot boat routes. I also hike usually up mountains abroad so I do need to know detailed information for my plans but paying something like £100 a month for a subscription is ridiculous (Yes some of these apps charge that !)What swayed me to this app was 2 experiences I did on holiday. I went paragliding in Turkey one year and when I was booking it (and also scouting for an app) the company was using this on a huge monitor. Fascinated about it I asked them why this app . They said it was the most accurate and information heavy one they found and having multiple weather comparisons ensured them they could make as best a forecast for paragliding as possible. Which was great as they were throwing me off a mountain! The second time on that same holiday I booked a boat trip for snorkelling. Again the skipper of the company was using the app and explained how this was for his use to plan his trips and whether he could actually sail or have to use his motor. I bought the premium version and have never looked back. I have multiple alerts for the beach near me for for the different conditions based on my plans. This app goes to show its not just for the average amateur individual to use, but professionals too. There are so many layers to use , I don’t need any other apps to monitor the environment with. It seems the really expensive apps out there replicate what this one does, but cost a lot more, offers less layers and prices themselves out for the average Joe. Well look no more!I have been using this for years now and the developers regularly provide great updates and I hope to continue to use it for years more!
