This beautiful hand-drawn adventure is unlike anything we’ve played before. Arrog is a moving and ultimately uplifting tale about life, loss, fate and acceptance, told through a series of striking and enchantingly surreal puzzles.

Each of these strange vignettes gives you something different to do. Early on, you’ll rotate rings to decipher an astral map. Then you’ll fill in the gaps of a looping path to help guide a wandering star, and later play as a capybara installing a dark bulb into a lighthouse.

These scenes play out against a moody ambient soundscape, while flashes of colour occasionally illuminate its distinctive black-and-white world.

The hand-crafted animation is fantastic: you’ll see three robed men transform into pillars of rock, while clouds dissolve with a touch of your finger and a flower unfurls beneath a blazing red sun.

At first, you might wonder what connects the dream-like images of ragged shadows and candlelit vigils, but the story’s celestial and spiritual themes steadily come into focus as you solve these offbeat challenges.

Arrog may be dark in places, but what emerges from the gloom is a heartfelt celebration of the circle of life. It’s a tale you’ll be thinking about for a long time to come.
