Pokémon celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and Pokémon GO is kicking off the festivities with a retro romp.
Starting Saturday, 20 February, you’ll be able to catch 150 classic Pokémon from the famous Kanto region, like Pikachu, Eevee and Bulbasaur.
To find them, buy a Kanto ticket in the shop, then tap it once it’s in your Item Bag. From there, pick a path based on one of the two games that launched the franchise in 1996: Pokémon Red or Pokémon Green.
Just like in the old days, Ekans, Oddish, Mankey, Growlithe, Scyther and Electabuzz are exclusive to the Pokémon Red version. Sandshrew, Vulpix, Meowth, Bellsprout, Magmar and Pinsir are in Pokémon Green. Want them all? Trade with friends!
There’s more fun in store: ticket holders can play an exclusive Special Research story that sets up a run-in with a Shiny Mew. And everyone can partake in Legendary Raids featuring powerhouse Pokémon Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno and Mewtwo.
Don’t have enough Poké Balls to collect all 150 Kanto Pokémon in 24 hours? Fear not – the retro roster will stick around until 27 February. So get catching!
