Purchased - Tangible progress in Asian & Western languages!

This app has helped me immensely with my language progress. I had so many apps for different languages and simply didn’t use them. After trialing memrise and discovering the options to enrol in other topics like science and nato alphabet (cool!) I purchased for a year and am so glad I did. Worth every dollar!! Language classes would be SO much more expensive, but Memrise means I can practice daily, refresh words and lay down a good basic foundation before committing to in-person lessons. Since using this daily I’ve made progress learning basic Cantonese (download from ‘other courses’ on computer), Mandarin and German, and have gained confidence to try others too. I didn’t intend to learn Chinese characters but am surprised at my progress and subsequent character recognition when I’m out in town. This seems to be the app that works for me, and I’m pleased to have paid for pro. Wish I could load ‘other courses’ from my phone, but otherwise it’s perfect for me. Thank you Memrise!

Great app to learn a language

The words are repeated in different ways: spelling, speaking, etc. If the app can provide some information about the languages, e.g. comparing it with other languages so that other languages users can know the similarities and differences in like pronunciation and grammar. That would help a lot. When I was learning Spanish through this app, I also heavily relied on many other resources online to know the language's framework.

False advertising

From the description it seems the app should be free to learn all the lessons, you only pay for pro if you want the additional features such as help with difficult words and offline classes. Well I have downloaded and re-read downloaded the app about three times now, and each time for Japanese lessons it won't let me proceed beyond lesson 1. It always just gives me an ad telling me to pay for pro. The "learn new words" button is always locked. I thought this was a bug and sent feedback to the developers through the app but did not receive any response. Online searches show that I'm not the only one who experiences this, and it's not a new thing either, some of the same online complaints date back to years ago. The developers obviously have not bothered to address this. This is not cool! It should be made clear that the lessons are not free up front. Then I wouldn't bother downloading I would just go back to Duolingo.
