Over 38 million people speak Xiang dialect. It is primarily spoken at home or between close friends. They speak the Common Chinese (Mandarin) when at school or doing business. Some examples of Xiang speakers are Mao Zedong, Zuo Zongtang, and Huang Xing.

湖南話，又稱湘方言或湘語，屬漢藏語系漢語族，是漢語七大方言之一，是生活在湘江流域及其支系一帶湖湘民系使用的主要語言。湖南話分為新湘語和老湘語，新湘語以長沙話為代表，老湘語以婁底雙峰話為代表。約有3千8百萬人使用湖南話，其中最著名的人物是毛澤東。本APP收錄了珍貴的毛澤東演講錄音。
