Docker and Podman Manage containers on any host you have already added. Browse containers, images, volumes and networks, start and stop and restart and remove, bring Compose stacks up and down, follow logs or exec into a shell in a terminal tab, and see what your images and build cache are costing you before you prune. Nothing to install on your server and nothing to expose: meshTerm drives the docker or podman CLI that is already there, over the SSH connection you already trust. Stuck on one? Hand it to Claude, Codex or Gemini and debug it together. Secrets an agent can use but never read (Pro) Mark any key in a Secret Profile as hidden. Its value is brokered only to the commands you allow, so an agent can run a deploy or call an API without the token ever appearing in its context, its logs, or your scrollback.

Faster, steadier reconnects Returning to the app is quicker and more reliable. meshTerm now refreshes stale network paths the moment you wake, re-probes a dropped link in about a second, and no longer double-reconnects on a deep link. Your sessions snap back where you left them. Clean reattach for full-screen tools Full-screen apps like Claude Code, vim, and htop now repaint correctly when you return to a session. No more blank screen, split screen, or missing prompt after backgrounding, locking, or switching devices. Secret Profiles, delivered live (Pro) Inject a Secret Profile straight into the session you are already in. Your environment and keys reach a running shell or agent with one tap, with nothing typed and nothing left on screen. Works over plain SSH, MTRoam, and tmux. Fixes and polish More resilient wake from background and lock, and a range of stability improvements across sessions and reconnects.

Agent mode The terminal grows a native AI surface. Start Claude Code, Codex, or Gemini on any of your hosts and drive it from a real chat: streaming replies, per-tool approvals that stay pinned until you answer, plan mode, model and thinking-effort pickers, token-usage chips, and slash commands. Agents keep running through app restarts and network drops; resume any previous conversation, including ones you started in the terminal. Attach files straight from iOS into the agent's workspace. Approvals and sandboxing Codex and Claude ask before commands and edits, and the request waits for you instead of scrolling away. Gemini's Sandbox mode pauses writes outside the working directory for your approval, with optional bubblewrap kernel hardening on the host. The keyboard palette The accessory keyboard is now a three page palette: features (files, search, snippets, tunnels, agents), your own key groups, and one-tap session switching. Build your top row, key groups, and minimized bar with the new Customize Keyboard editor. Swipe down to dismiss the keyboard, or use the new hide button next to Back. Tunnels Add a port forward straight from the Tunnels sheet with (+). It starts on the live connection immediately, no reconnect needed, and persists on the host for every future connect. Fixes and polish Smoother agent-chat scrolling, more resilient reconnects, a fix for SSH control commands that could hang forever, and a copy pass across the app (including the Tailscale SSH setup command, which now includes the sudo it always needed).

All-new Metal terminal - We rebuilt the terminal from the ground up on Metal - smoother scrolling, crisper text, and rock-solid rendering for full-screen tools. Remember your last keyboard state per session. meshTerm can now remember your last keyboard state (full screen or minimised so you cans switch between tailing logs and and agent session without having to show/hide you keyboard to get back to your preferred view. Your prompt stays put - No more chasing the input line behind the keyboard or after a rotation. The terminal now keeps the prompt - and an agent's status line - exactly where you can see them, automatically. iCloud Sync (Pro) - Your hosts, keys, known-host trust, macros, snippets, Tailscale profiles (not tailscale secrets), tags and preferences sync across your iPhone and iPad. Private keys and passwords ride iCloud Keychain (end-to-end encrypted). Opt-in, off by default. Pick up on any device - Open a session on your iPad, grab your phone, and take it over with one tap - the other device drops to a read-only view so you never fight over the same prompt. Plus: in-place host-key re-trust, faster reconnects, retro phosphor color modes, and dozens of polish fixes. Requires a Pro subscription for iCloud Sync and more than one host/session. Everything else - Roam sessions, Tailscale, plain SSH, macros - is free.

Built-in Tailscale with multiple tailnets meshTerm now has its own Tailscale networking stack - runs entirely in-app, no separate Tailscale app required, and no conflict with any other VPN you have running. Add an auth key and your iPhone joins your Tailnet over WireGuard. SSH, SFTP, MTRoam, shell history, and the daemon installer all route through the encrypted tunnel natively. Multiple profiles let you switch between work, personal, or client tailnets. Bind hosts to a profile so they auto-switch on connect. Browse devices and add them in a tap. mtRoam A small open-source daemon on your own server keeps your shell PTY alive across network drops, app backgrounding, and device switches. Connect over QUIC for the fastest path, an SSH tunnel when UDP is blocked, or directly across your Tailnet - every path reaches the same persistent sessions, with replay-from-ack so you don't see duplicated lines on reconnect. meshTerm installs the daemon in one tap with on-device cryptographic verification via Apple's CryptoKit. Multi-session, multi-client Open named sessions per host - dev, logs, tests. Attach exclusively, or read-only-watch a session a colleague is driving. Per-host idle timeouts from 1 hour to Never. The new Sessions tab keeps every live session one tap away - switch, rename, or close without leaving the keyboard. Predictive overlay A suggestion strip above the keyboard fills as you type with matching commands from your remote shell history. Pulled live over SSH from the host's own history file. Better tmux Workflow A new Sessions sheet lists every live tmux session on a host with one-tap attach, rename, and prune. Connection tab chips show the tmux session name when one's set, so you can tell `dev` from `logs` at a glance instead of staring at three identical hostnames. Keyboard Polish A new Shift modifier on the custom key row gives you proper paired-character access without juggling a separate shift key. ⌘, on a hardware keyboard now jumps you to Settings (matches the macOS convention). ⌘K does a full terminal clear, and we squashed the scroll jitter that occasionally happened when tmux redraws collided with the keyboard.

The biggest release since launch. v1.1.2 turns meshTerm from "an SSH terminal that runs on iOS" into something that knows your hosts, your habits, and your keys, without ever sending a byte off the device. A New Home Screen Three Liquid Glass tabs along the bottom: Hosts for your connections, Activity for a cross-host event feed, Settings where it always was. The gear icon is one tap from anywhere now. Secret Macros Macros now have a type. Echo macros work as before: type the value, tap the button, bytes go to the shell. Secret macros store the value in the iOS Keychain instead of plaintext, with an optional Require Face ID toggle for the ones that send sudo passwords or production credentials. Tap, Face ID, paste, and the password never leaves your device's secure enclave. Secret Snippets The same trust model in the Snippet Vault. Mark a snippet as Secret, optionally gate it with Face ID. Stored in the iOS Keychain alongside the macro values, never in UserDefaults. Fill from Password Manager The secret-macro and secret-snippet editors gain a Fill from Password Manager button. Tap, and iOS shows the system password picker (iCloud Keychain, 1Password, Bitwarden, Dashlane, whatever you have configured); pick, and the value lands in the editor's value field. Save once, use forever from a Face-ID-gated macro tap. Per-Host Observability Every host you connect to gets its own detail screen: connection history, reliability stats, average network and SSH handshake latency, reconnect counts, SFTP transfer totals, and a 7-day connection sparkline. All metadata-only, all on-device, all wipeable. Long-press any host to find it. Activity Feed The new Activity tab streams the last 30 events across all your hosts in one glass-chip timeline. Each row is colour-coded with the host's identity hue, gets the event glyph, shows when and what: connect, disconnect, reconnect, SFTP upload/download with a byte bar. Tap a row to jump straight into that host's detail screen. Privacy posture is unchanged. Nothing leaves the device. Nothing logs command content, terminal output, or filenames. The store keeps a rolling 30-day window and clears on demand from a single button in Settings, Privacy. Known-Hosts Overhaul The Known Hosts list now shows the key type alongside the SHA256 fingerprint and the date you trusted it. New Import and Export entries on the toolbar round-trip OpenSSH-format known_hosts files via the Files app, so you can seed your iPhone trust list from your desktop, or back it up. The bigger fix: the silent reject when a host's key changes is gone. When meshTerm sees a different key than the one you previously trusted, you now get a three-button sheet: Update Stored Key & Connect (when the server's key was legitimately rotated), Connect Once Without Saving (one-shot trust, no persistence), or Cancel. Either way, the audit trail in observability records the mismatch. Smoother tmux Scrolling The contentOffset veto in the terminal view was letting programmatic scroll-to-bottom calls slip through during tmux mouse-mode wheel events, producing visible stutter. The veto is now unconditional during mouse mode, so scroll gestures route into tmux's copy-mode without the jitter. Connect-Time Crash Fixed A startup race where the SwiftTerm UIScrollView's contentOffset setter was called before the terminal was constructed. Deferred behind a layout-ready flag. Spanish Translations Every new label, alert, dialog, and helper line (host detail stats, secret-macro editor, known-hosts import/export receipts, mismatch sheet, ⌘, hardware-keyboard help, secret-credential prompts) translated to Spanish for day-one parity.

What's New in meshTerm 1.1.1 A focused refinement release. Your Keyboard, Your Way The on-screen accessory row is now fully meshTerm's. Every key it emits — Esc, Tab, arrows, function keys, the shell-critical symbols iOS buries three layers deep like `|`, `\`, `` ` ``, `~`, `{ }`, `[ ]` — sends exactly the right xterm byte sequences. A new Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Layout editor lets you drag-reorder the top row and move any key between the top row and the drawer. Defaults are picked to get out of your way; tune them when you're ready. Bigger Buttons on Tap A Button Size stepper in Settings scales the whole accessory — top row, drawer, macros — from 32 to 56 points. Thumb-friendly on iPhone, more breathing room on iPad, same keys either way. Your Sessions Come Back tmux-backed sessions now survive a cold launch. Quit meshTerm, come back an hour later, and the hosts you were on reopen automatically — your shell state intact, thanks to tmux re-attach. Toggleable in Settings if you'd rather start fresh. Quieter Reconnection Switching between tabs now silently reconnects any session that looks stale — a dropped socket you haven't noticed, a `.ready` connection that stopped responding. Healthy sessions aren't touched; there's a short cooldown so rapid tab-flipping doesn't thrash the network. Drawer That Stays Out of the Way The new key drawer slides up with your symbols and function keys and slides cleanly back — no ghost overlap with the terminal output when you close it. Tidier Settings The SSH Keys section now collapses to a single row showing how many keys you have. Tap to expand when you need to copy a public key or add a new one. Spanish Translations Every new string in 1.1.1 — keyboard controls, layout editor, session restore copy — is available in Spanish from day one.

Stop retyping the same commands a hundred times a day. Automatic tmux Sessions New hosts now attach to tmux by default, so your work survives dropped connections, closed tabs, and backgrounded apps. No tmux on the server? meshTerm falls back gracefully to a standard shell — you never have to think about it. Smarter Reconnection Lost Wi-Fi in an elevator? Switched from cellular to Wi-Fi? meshTerm now reconnects automatically when the network comes back or when you return to the app, picking up your tmux session exactly where you left off. A subtle "-- reconnected --" marker shows you when it happened. Hardware Keyboard Polish Connect a Magic Keyboard or Smart Folio and the on-screen accessory bar disappears automatically, giving you a full-screen terminal. Disconnect and it's back. No settings to toggle — it just works. Liquid Glass Design Onboarding, the session bar, and the lock screen have been refreshed with Apple's Liquid Glass material, bringing meshTerm in line with the latest iOS design language.
