Markdownr is a powerful, native Markdown viewer that turns your iPhone and iPad into the best way to read .md files. Open Markdown documents directly from the Files app, Mail, Safari, or any app — Markdownr registers as a system-wide document handler so your files always look beautiful.
WHY MARKDOWNR
iOS has no built-in Markdown viewer. Markdownr fills that gap with blazing-fast native rendering, rich theming, and document navigation features that make reading long Markdown documents a pleasure.
DOCUMENT HANDLING
- Open .md and .markdown files from the Files app, email attachments, Safari downloads, or any app that shares documents
- Browse and open files from device storage or iCloud Drive with the built-in file picker
- Set Markdownr as your default Markdown viewer system-wide
READING & NAVIGATION
- Table of Contents: Swipe from the left to open an auto-generated navigation drawer with all headings — tap to jump to any section
- Full-Text Search: Find any text instantly with highlighted results and match-by-match navigation
- Pinch to Zoom: Zoom into any part of your document for a closer look
- Front Matter: View YAML metadata (title, author, date, tags) in a clean styled header
THEMES & APPEARANCE
- 13 colour themes: Default, Ocean, Forest, Sunset, Lavender, Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn, Christmas, Easter, and more — each with light and dark variants
- Dark & Light Mode: Follows your system setting automatically, or toggle manually
- Theme Suggestions: Documents can request a specific theme via front matter, and seasonal themes are suggested based on your locale
- Particle overlays and decorative elements for seasonal and holiday themes
ADVANCED FEATURES
- Math Support: Inline and block LaTeX expressions rendered via KaTeX
- Custom theme URLs: Load themes from remote JSON files specified in front matter

Your markdown files can now use common HTML inline tags — and they'll actually render properly. Bold, italic, strikethrough, underline, highlight, superscripts, subscripts, line breaks — all the classics. Tags inside code spans stay as literal text, because that's just good manners.
