The biggest problem would be layer limitations. I understand it is to prevent the lack on devices but when drawing big illustrations for posters or vtuber models that requires 6000 x 7000 or up, it is practically impossible to draw on with limited layers usage. The second problem would be colour accuracy. I have compared photoshop, clip studio paint and procreate all 3 programs , procreate has the worst colour desaturation when imported out to other programs such as live 2D cubism or social media. In photoshop and clip studio paint we can adjust to SRGB, but idk if procreate can. Moreover, if you do live 2D models like me, you’ll know not only the colours are desaturated, the layers after imported in live 2D cubism will automatically mesh the 4 corners of the layer instead of the object. Which will require you to either load the file in another program first, or hand-mesh everything again. The third problem is liquidfy tool. It’s no doubt that this tool is going to blurry the pixels but in procreate, it has the most blurred effect compared to photoshop and clip studio paint. This is especially noticeable when you are using this tool to animate with line works. Aside from these problems, I believe procreate is completely a potential yet light-weighted tool to carry around with you everyday, even during vacations aboard.
Hi hanako chiyuki – We greatly appreciate your 5-star review, and all your feedback!🤗 Procreate currently limits the maximum layers on each canvas based on your iPad's model / RAM and the canvas Dimensions, to make sure you can work smoothly without running into issues. However, we truly care about providing the best user experience and we aim to improve this in the future. We will bring the new engine from Procreate Dreams into Procreate, which means you will be able to keep content outside the canvas, while working on bigger canvases with more Layers available too. Implementing our next-generation painting and compositing engine into Procreate is a huge undertaking, so we cannot promise a date-frame for this yet but we do plan on bringing it in the future. - We have also added your vote to the request to improve the Liquify tool. - Regarding the colours, there are some comparison issues between the way Procreate and other programs handle CMYK. Procreate is currently based on a three-channel colour engine (RGB), which means Procreate can't fully recreate a true CMYK experience yet. Users often run into colour difference issues when importing their artworks into other programs with true four-channel CMYK, such as Photoshop. We're working hard on improving this with future updates of Procreate. For the meantime, if you require to work alongside Photoshop our recommendation is that you create your canvases in Procreate in sRGB colour profiles and then do the conversion to CMYK in Photoshop. For your existing canvases, you could create a new canvas in Procreate with the same dimensions and set it to an sRGB colour profile > then head into your old CMYK canvas and move all layers over to the new canvas > export and import the file into Photoshop. - To ensure your canvas has a sRGB profile, from the Procreate Gallery tap the + icon in the top right > tap the rectangle-with-plus icon in the top right of the New Canvas menu, to enter the Custom Canvas interface > go to the Colour profile tab > choose an RGB colour profile. — If you require further support, please message us via the Support Form at procre.at/support - it is our official channel, and we are always happy to assist!
