Notes is the best place to jot down quick thoughts or to save longer notes filled with checklists, images, web links, scanned documents, handwritten notes or sketches. And with iCloud, it’s easy to keep all your devices in sync, so you’ll always have your notes with you.
Features
Powerful note-taking
• Add attachments — PDFs, photos, maps, web links and more.
• Record and transcribe audio directly into a note.
• Scan paper documents with the built-in document scanner.
• Secure sensitive or personal data in a locked note.
• Create checklists. Make a shopping list, a wish list or a to-do list, then tap to tick off items as you go.
• Apply different text styles, such as heading or body, bulleted lists, highlighting and more.
• Tap next to section headers to reveal a chevron to collapse text.
• Add tables to quickly organise information.
• Use your finger, or Apple Pencil on a compatible iPad, to sketch directly in your note or an inline PDF. Choose from a variety of brush styles and colours, and add lines and grids to a note for easier writing and drawing.
• Take a Quick Note without opening the app — add Quick Note to your Control Centre, swipe up from the bottom-right corner with an Apple Pencil on iPad, or use Fn-Q on a keyboard.
Organise and search
• Search for text in notes, your handwriting, and even inside scanned documents and photos like receipts or bills.
• Link from one note to another to connect ideas, content or any information. Try typing >> for a shortcut to add links while writing in your note.
• Keep your notes in folders and subfolders, or add tags to categorise them. Type or handwrite tags directly in your note — like #cooking or #expenses.
• Automatically organise notes in a Smart Folder based on filters. Create rules to filter for Date Created, Checklists, Attachments and more.
Collaborate
• Collaborate on entire shared folders or on specific shared notes.
• Mention friends to notify them of important updates and link them directly to a shared note.
• See what others added to a shared note while you were away with Activity view, a day-to-day list summary of activity from each collaborator.
Notes for Apple Watch
• View all of your iCloud notes right from your wrist; you can also pin notes, complete checklist items, or create new notes with dictation or Siri.

Almost perfect

While the notes app itself is almost flawless I would like to see a couple feature additions / fixes 1. Being able to turn on and off ‘auto sort ticked items’ for each note (just like it was fixed with pictures in notes so you can set them to appear small or large individually) 2. Being able to search in text and view attachments from locked notes WHEN they are unlocked - I can’t really see why is there such an option to bring the locked notes into an unlocked state , if you cannot interact with them through search and etc. 3. The locked notes staying unlocked or at least staying where you were at when switching apps Like in Photos the hidden section stays at exactly the same screen when leaving the app and opening it from recent apps - you only need to verify yourself with face or touch id and there you are you can continue from where you were In spite of this in Notes - when you exit the application and go back most of the times the view resets to the beginning of the note and you have to scroll all the way down if you want to continue from where you were(4. Also there’s a bug when you reopen a note sometimes the editing toolbar is missing above the keyboard - only exiting and closing the app solves it)
It is basically useless

I don’t know whether this is one of Apple’s catastrophic and utterly useless AI features, or just a bug, yet again; but it changes and deletes characters in certain rows when I type something to the text one, it insists to autofill something very (and only Apple’s dictatorial guidelines are holding me back here from using very bad words) useless that nobody would ever need. On top of that I can’t delete it either, every time I hit space (SPACE! Why space, why not Tab like any other autofill feature???) it autofills that useless thing, EVERY TIME!!! I have to continue writing and go back and cut the autofilled part. It is beyond horrible! Plus, it underlines stuff and I can’t turn it off. Like it is an equation (you know that because you have changed the * symbol to an x, a 100 times after I have tried to change it back and gave up…) and yet it is underlined like it has a typo…
Notes to the future

Apple Notes is a useful tool, but it could benefit from further development and additional features. It would be particularly beneficial to enhance the embedding capabilities, allowing for more seamless integration of images, tables, and other editing options. This would certainly take it beyond its current basic level. Moreover, a more sophisticated interaction with other programs, such as the calendar, would significantly improve its functionality. I also believe a more structured organization system, such as folders or tags, could enhance user navigation through notes. In addition, the introduction of a collaborative feature would allow users to share or work on notes with others, which could be a game-changer for many. Finally, integrating a reminder or alert system within the notes could serve as a valuable tool for remembering important tasks or deadlines.Overall, while Apple Notes is a solid program, these improvements could take it to the next level of user experience.
