Been using this app for 5 years now if I recall correctly. Nowadays it’s perfect for me and my spouse to track shared expenses, we’ve been using Splitwise for that purpose for 3 years now. I noticed that per item limits, expenses history after settling up and other functions have either been stripped or decreased over the years. It’s all steering you towards subscribing to the app, paying a monthly fee. I get that you have to make money somehow and I absolutely support that, but could we please for once have a one-time only fee? I’d pay for the premium version of this absolutely stellar app, even if a one time fee was the current subscription model’s annual price. I’m never ever going down the subscription loophole with mobile apps for mundane tasks, when I’m already cutting streaming subs and even Microsoft 365 for everyday use. Perhaps I’m an outlier but all these subscription models are exhausting to manage.All I’m saying is, I’ll become a paying customer with a one time only fee, but I’ll resort to the free version as long as it’s subscription-based. Should the free version become unusable in the future, I’ll just look for something else or just come up with an Excel sheet for ourselves.

Despite this “forced registration” they can also manage the cost in the group.So if someone doesn’t accept your “invitation” you cannot split cost in this app.For the currency exchange/conversation you have to sign up.

Thanks for the feedback! We think SW works better when all parties can see, add, and edit bills. If you want to circumvent the invite system you can add @example.com addresses to Splitwise. Jane_Doe@example.com will make a fake friend called Jane Doe you can add bills with, for example. Cheers.

This is a really good app to have control over what you owe and are owed. Really user friendly, the changes then interface recently and looks cooler and it is a must in my daily life with my boyfriend and for every trip with a group of friends. 100% recommended.

Making me to pay monthly for this? Really disgusting and annoying. Used to love this app, used it on a weekly basis. Often spend the weekends with our friends, we usually have many more than just 3 items we buy! Come on ! So so so disappointed :( Switched to Splid. 3 transactions is ridiculously few. I am so annoyed and sad. This was such a great help in everyday life :(
