Pro image editing for everyone

With its powerful features, incredible ease of use and approachable price, Pixelmator Pro has become a go-to photo-editing app for professionals and hobbyists alike.

The app’s machine-learning (ML) features are especially impressive. ML Super Resolution instantly improves the clarity of low-resolution or blurry images (just like in CSI). ML Enhance automatically adjusts colour, contrast and more using an algorithm trained using 20 million professionally shot images.

And by leveraging Apple’s Core ML framework, the app can recognise objects with startling accuracy – which means you can select, say, a wayward tuft of hair for removal with a few clicks.

The app’s minimalist design helps you focus on the image, not pop-up windows.

Pixelmator Pro’s performance is blazingly fast on a Mac with the Apple M1 chip – ML Super Resolution, for example, runs 15 times faster. And with the M1’s unified-memory architecture, image edits happen in a snap. “The performance opens up new workflows that were simply never possible before,” says Simonas Bastys, lead developer at Pixelmator. “It feels like an overnight change.”

The app’s interface has also been refined for macOS Big Sur. And you can make the app your own with features like the customisable toolbar and the Preset Browser, which offers quick access to 200 new options.

Create your own colour presets and save them as Recipes to reuse and share with other Pro users.

Pixelmator Pro supports non-destructive editing, and its advanced colour-adjustment tools make images pop without leaving artifacts. Need to make the same tweaks multiple times? Turn adjustments and effects into Recipes, then apply them repeatedly or share them with others.

The app can handle photo editing, painting and illustration. It offers a rich suite of customisable brushes and support for external drawing tablets. Graphic designers will appreciate the vector tools and customisable shapes. Normally, you’d have to switch between multiple apps to access all these features – which is why Pixelmator Pro is a must-have.
