At laya healthcare we are constantly trying to make things a little easier for our members and our recent app update allows you to manage your health insurance and healthcare needs all in the one place.

Simply take or upload a picture of your day to day medical expense receipts and submit them directly to our Claims Department for assessment through the Laya App.

We have also amalgamated our CareOnCall app so that members can contact Digital GP services including face to face video consultations with a GP, an online prescription service and access to home testing kits. Because this is an app you will want to keep using, we’ve enabled Touch & Face ID for speedy and secure login.

Face ID and family support

Face ID or Touch ID are a must that are missing and other apps easily support it so there really is no excuse.

Also, our policy is for a family and you can only use the app as the main policy holder, even if other members have rights to discuss the policy. If you are not the policy holder but want to submit claims you have to use the holder’s account. If you do this, the actual patient cannot see his/her own claims. Even on the web.

One star down for missing biometrics and another one for the other issue.

On the other hand, Laya is a very good health insurer, excellent customer support and range of plans. But this review is about the app.

Just a load of links back to their website

Sadly it is very disappointing having been with the competition at VHI which have a fully working app. Laya’s app appears to be just a load of links that take you to their website when you check cover or benefits. It does let you scan receipts like VHI do but it’s very poor in that you’re still taken to their website every time you check something on it. What is the point of an app that just is a link to their website? I like Laya however and their customer care far exceeds VHI who were extremely aggressive when I left to join Laya and I hope soon their apps will improve.

Very useful

Logging in with Face ID works great and makes interacting with the app so much easier. Also, having online doctor services in the app is very handy - I’m able to get my prescription filled without taking time off work.
