Ratings and Reviews
Keeps our house ticking over
The app is very handy and it handles both the Kasa and the Tapo plugs efficiently. The Google integration is pretty good, although sometimes the plugs don’t respond but I’d imagine that’s a Google issue. The range of connection is much better with these newer plugs and I even have some outdoors in a weatherproof box and still able to connect to them which I wouldn’t have been able to with earlier plugs. An improvement over previous iterations for sure. The only thing I’d like is to be able to add my own images to plugs or at least more variety of the plug images like the Kasa app has had.
First experiences and observations
This is my first camera and I have several networking products from TP Link. I have been using the camera for a few weeks now. It’s interesting to see how early traffic starts moving and the hours some dog walkers keep. Also seeing nocturnal wildlife on the move.
For the app, I would like to be able to filter and sort or video duration. Lots of clips are not interesting. I would also like to be able to delete clips without people detected in them easily.
Another thing I noticed was that the camera detected motion in trees and was focused on that rather than people coming to the door. It would be nice to be able to ignore parts of view from motion detection.
Tapo products are just brilliant
I have loads of plugs, cameras and light bulbs from Tapo - their products are just fantastic. Compatible with google home etc, easy to set up, not too crazy a pricetag and they obviously listen to feedback - I mentioned that it would be nice to be able to call and use the microphone to talk to my mom through the security camera because before only one person could do that. Just like that, the features were added. I'm so impressed honestly. Great customer service experience and great products at a fair price. I hope they keep it up.
