Airalo: eSIM Travel & Internet 4+

After finding out about Airolo, travelling became easier, simpler and much less stressful. I have used Airolo a few times already and I have had an amazing experience thus far. I do not have to go through the headache of running to the mobile stores looking at SIM cards and thinking whether I’m getting a good deal or not; now, I just turn on my phone the moment I land and that’s it!! I am already connected on the local network!! It’s also amazing how there is no need to worry about changing SIM cards or losing my original SIM card and all that. I am currently using it in Italy and I am very pleased with the fact that I always have a strong connection even when everyone else with me (who bought local SIM cards) don’t, since it changes automatically between cellular companies depending on the strength of the connection!!!!! I would definitely recommend Airolo and would consider it to be one of the essentials of traveling, just as travel insurance is.

On the good side, prices are very good and the concept is cool - no need for physical sim. The app is convenient. You can see how much data you used. You can easily pay with Apple Pay so you don’t even need to bother entering credit card details. On the bad side - setting is highly inconvenient and combersome. I’m a technology expert so I managed to deal with it. However, a typical costumer might get lost. The reason I gave it such a low score is that even though I managed to use the service several times in the past, this time, on a vacation to Greece, the service didn’t work. It worked occasionally, but 95% of time and especially when I was at the hotel, I was disconnected. I exchanged 15 emails with customer service. Each time the started from scratch. Asking me for the same settings details. Telling me to switch to manual network selection or to 3G rather than 5G or 4G (which was not available anyway). The problem is that Aeralo partners with specific cellular carriers and sometime these carriers are not available. Depending on you specific location. In my case it was the hotel I was staying on. In such a case, the service is useless. Just lost 25$ for nothing.

I have used Airalo and other Telecommunications Company offering an esim card. I travelled in Southeast Asia , Australia, Hungary and Spain during January-mid February . I really liked esim Airalo service. Very reliable and easy to install . It saved me really a lot of money instead of buying a roaming service in my home country which are very expensive. I did not have a very smooth experience with esim providers while travelling in SouthEast Asia but I knew in advance that it will happen because of their infrastructure. I did not use Airalo there. I purchased an esim from there only when I travelled in Europe and it was awesome . Normally I buy only a data service as I do not need to make landline calls while travelling abroad , as I use What’s Up. And if I do have to call the landline, I am using Skype. So it is quit awesome.
