Chodesh Hebrew Date & Calendar
Hebrew Dates in Your Menu Bar
₪12.90
New: a menu bar calendar with today's Hebrew date, holidays, your events, Shabbat times, daily Torah section, Daf Yomi and the Omer count, all a click away.
Chodesh lets you view the Hebrew calendar, keep track of the
dates that matter to you, follow Shabbat and festival times, explore holidays, and convert
dates, alongside powerful and customizable widgets.
• Calendar View
Browse the Hebrew calendar, navigate between months, and see holidays, fasts, the weekly
Torah portion, and special dates at a glance. Tap any day to see its full date, events and
daily learning, or tap an event for its details.
• A clean look, like Apple Calendar: only today is colored, and the selected day is circled
• Colored dots tell festivals, fasts, Chol HaMoed, Rosh Chodesh, Israeli national days, and
your own events apart
• A Today button between the arrows brings you straight back
• Daily Learning
Each day shows its section of the weekly Torah portion, the Daf Yomi page, and - between
Pesach and Shavuot - the Omer count.
• Shabbat & Festival Times
Candle lighting and havdalah for your city, shown in the calendar and in your widgets.
Choose your city once - Chodesh never asks for location access.
• Times follow local custom, including the earlier candle lighting in Jerusalem and Haifa
• Choose when Shabbat ends: three stars, the Geonim, or Rabbeinu Tam
• Optionally let the Hebrew day begin at sunset, as it does in practice, rather than midnight
• Israel or the Diaspora
Chodesh follows the practice of the place you choose. Second days of festivals are kept
outside Israel and not within it, and the weekly Torah portion follows the right cycle in
the weeks when the two differ.
• My Events
Add the dates that matter to you - a memorial date, a Hebrew birthday, any anniversary.
Each one recurs on the same Hebrew date every year and appears in the calendar and in your
widgets, marked apart from holidays.
• Birthdays, memorials, and other dates, each with its own mark
• Optional reminders: on the day, or a day, week, or month before - or any interval you set,
at a time you choose
• Count anniversaries, so you can see at a glance that it's the 7th year
• Dates in Adar follow your choice of Adar I or Adar II in leap years
• Grouped by Hebrew month, so you can see what is coming
• Your dates sync between iPhone and Mac through iCloud
• Date Converter
Easily convert between Hebrew and Gregorian dates in a simple, intuitive interface.
• Widgets for Home Screen and Lock Screen
Eleven widget styles, in sizes to suit your layout:
• Hebrew Date - today's day, month, and year in a clean, resizable view, with an alternate
style to match your taste
• Lock Screen - the Hebrew date beside your clock, with the next candle lighting or
havdalah time
• Hebrew Calendar - the full month grid, for a minimal at-a-glance view
• Gregorian Calendar with Hebrew dates - the civil month, with the Hebrew date on every day
• Month & Events - the full month layout plus a list of what's coming up
• Week at a Glance - this week's Gregorian and Hebrew days side by side
• Upcoming events - a running list of what's ahead
All widgets are fully customizable:
• Color schemes: System, Dark, or Light
• Numeral style: follow the app's language, or always Hebrew letters or Western digits
• Yom Kippur Katan: Toggle display of this minor fast day
• Default Adar: choose how your own dates in Adar behave in leap years
A short setup on first launch gets you to the right language, city, and level of detail in
a few taps - and everything stays changeable in Settings.
No app launch required for widgets - everything you need is right on your Home Screen.
Privacy First
Chodesh never collects your personal data. Your dates and preferences stay on your phone, and if you use iCloud they sync privately through your own iCloud account - we never see them.
Chodesh is actively developed. Feedback, feature requests and translation suggestions are all welcome at support@comnet.co.il.
Ratings & Reviews
A new menu bar calendar (Mac)
• Today at a glance: the Hebrew date, today's holiday, your own events, candle-lighting and havdalah times, and the Omer count between Pesach and Shavuot.
• Daily learning: today's section of the Torah portion (for example, "Bamidbar · Revi'i") and today's Daf Yomi page.
• A month calendar in the menu. Click any day to see its events and learning, or add an event to that date.
• Coming up: the next holidays and your own events, with how many days away each one is.
• A two-column layout that fits smaller screens, a more solid background, and all commands in one toolbar.
A cleaner calendar (Mac and iPhone)
• A calmer look, like Apple Calendar: only today is colored, and the selected day is marked with a circle.
• Colored dots show what kind of day it is: festivals, fasts, Chol HaMoed and minor holidays, Rosh Chodesh, Israeli national days, and your own events.
• The day panel shows the full date, with weekday and year, and lists the day's events and learning underneath.
• The Today button sits between the arrows and is enabled whenever you've moved away from today.
• A day stays selected as you move between months, so the events panel no longer jumps.
• A slightly larger calendar on iPhone, with more room between weeks and a tidier landscape layout.
Fixes
• Changing the app's language now updates the menu bar date, the widgets and the menu right away.
• The date in the menu is clearer in Hebrew.
