Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.
• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.
• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 50 people.
• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.
• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.
• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.
• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

Basically its a WhatsApp 1:1 with a bit different theme. All the functionality present , everything done exactly the same way. Plus - presence of desktop, iPad and such apps, minus - absence of Web version. Obviously does not come with Facebook attached and also open source, so good for privacy and safe. The applications do not require phone to be connected to internet all the time which is huge plus in usability and very small minus in security. The only bad thing I can say is eyebraking “Hawaiian” shirt looking coloring scheme drives me crazy with this blue color.Other then that - perfect replacement for WhatsApp - everything same, no need to learn to use new programSmall technical issue - in contacts in IPad I do not see the names I gave to my contacts on phone, but something else, probably names people used when registered on Signal. And it took me a lot of time to find how to rename them on IPad, the option is quite hiddenAnother thing it would be nice to be able to distinguish Signal contact from other contact in search results/list

The only 2 things that need to be improved are:1)The continuity of the keyboard language, while your last messages in one particular conversation are in some language, the language of the keyboard will reset to the default device language every time you’ll access the conversation. 2)Adding last seen feature (optional)

Very good chat app, but needs some improvements: Please add a possibility of deleting a message from one side for all partners, and also a possibility of deleting multi messages together and not one by one like in the present version (very slow and annoying hard work). I think those 2 missing features are very important! After all, this app is all about conversation security, so please push security to be faster!

I try to put a picture in my stories, two days ago everything was fine, today i only have possibility of making a picture with camera and then upload to story. But no possibility choosing from album.
• Group admins can now bring chats to their natural conclusion with the new "End Group" option in group settings. Ending a group prevents group members from sending messages or starting calls, and also disables invites. Now you can make sure everyone stays on the right thread by ending last year's sewing meetup group before stitching a new one together.
