It's a good app but has some performance issues

The app is sometimes slow and becomes unresponsive.

Motti Snheor ,

I'm forced to use this app at work, otherwise, I'd remove it.

Although it has improved greatly some time ago, t's still NOT a Mac application. It's UI paradigm, its text-mechanism, and many other aspects - are just NOT MAC. It feels like a web-application forced on the Mac.

It is slow and unresponsive many times, even on a shiny monster i9 MBP made in 2020, with 32GB of RAM and 2TB SSD drive. That's simply unacceptable.

UI is both cumbersome and unintuitive - and it simply doesn't work many times. See you find anything you need in those zillions of "Channels" whatever the term should mean within this app.

I't support for many required behaviors (such as drag&drop, copy&paste, background/foreground transitions etc.) are rudimentary - or don't exist at all. Even simple clicks aren't handled correctly.

And as a courtesy surprise - it's also huge both on disk, in memory, and in the amount of frustration it brings the user.

There are dozens of messangers and "channel" supporting "groups/channels" as well - and beats me how this one got to be the "standard" in corporate-land.

I know only one to be worse - Microsoft Teams. And if they want a positive sample - the Telegram native Mac program is good.

The only one that I still struggle with

Out of all the "native" apps (that is not web-based that are used through the browser) Slack is the only one that I still need to fight with almost on a daily basis, old-school style. There are just way too many clunky mechanisms or unexpected behaviors it has, and that's just in terms of design. Many of those also simply not working as expected, gets stuck, losing connection even when all the other apps are still fully functioning and connected, etc. As this is the primary communication tool at my workplace we have to use it, I just hope they'll improve native MacOS support and compatibility. It's a big enough user base imho.

Developer Response ,

We'd be interested in hearing more about this issue. When you have a moment, please navigate to your app's "You" tab - "Preferences" - "Send Feedback" to flag this with our support team and provide some logs we'll need to investigate. We'll be happy to help!
