Editors’ Notes
This productivity powerhouse is as essential to teams as ever. Chat in dedicated channels or direct messages, get things done with app integrations and make a statement thanks to top-class emoji support.
Still has issues
The good part is the amount of integrations, and shortcuts that make it easy to use.
Slack was the pioneer in making organizational communication efficient and retiring the ever cumbersome email.
When I started using it, 4 years ago, I could forgive slack for the glitches in the product, however 4 years later, some major things were not fixed and I’m afraid they never will be:
Notifications pop up but the message is not yet displayed in the channel for up to 20 seconds.
Delay in notifications, and notifications that are supposed to show up, never do.
Also it is impossible to sort the mobile side bar to display channels and DMs according to the most recent activity which means that it’s hard track back recent messages that you’ve already read.
Hope it’ll be fixed before WhatsApp come up with a flawless organizational communication app…
Why are the profile pictures in the home tab gone?
This is something g very useful in desktop but it's still unavailable in the mobile app even though one of the previous updates specified it to be added.
Developer Response ,
Thank you for sharing this feedback with us. We'll let the mobile team know you found those avatars useful. For now, they're still visible on the DMs tab.
