EXCEL ! The Best Spreadsheet, Worksheet, Analytical Tool, ...
Kachchu
Sunday, 12-Apr-2020I am of the Lotus 123 Vintage ! I have used its Macros, and found it initially difficult to migrate to MS Excel to "learn" Visual Basic to convert/deploy macros in Excel. However, there are a multitude of other tools which keep getting upgraded and enhanced in Excel, now that Lotus is dead ! The latest I enjoy the most is the integration of stock market data, although there are some glitches I still encounter while using Stock/Geography. Also, I am a keyboard-shortcut aficionado, and found it difficult to use keyboard shortcuts for, for e.g., Series-Fill-Number/Data.... because the shortcuts seem to have been discarded in the later upgrades to Excel. I have ALWAYS said that you don't need anything OTHER THAN EXCEL - whether in a corporate setting or individual person - to accomplish a multitude of tasks, analytics, and so on, but Microsoft can surely work on removing some of Excel’s limitations [number of rows, columns] which can surely be configured to be INFINITE - as is the case with several other programs - so as to enhance Excel's limitless capabilities. Also, going forward, I would like Excel to rope in AI, ML, Analytics, Data Science [in a way it already exists in Excel] capability, so as to analyze, sort, calculate diverse data from a whole range of data sources [“big data” ?]. In addition, Microsoft should think ahead and rope in Block Chain integration, so that Excel can "fire in all its cylinders" !
