Was a great app till recently
I have been using Spendee for many years. It was very useful. However, there have been a few bugs in the last few months that have led me to think about moving on to some other app to record my expenses.
First there was the automatic and endless duplication of recurring expenses. Every time I opened the app it would keep refreshing and with each refresh the recurring expense would be duplicated leading to overblown expenditure.
Next, the tagging system stopped working, earlier one could simply type in # followed by the first letter of the desired tag and the options would appear in a dropdown and one could choose. This system broke and one had to type the full name of the tag and enter it.
I wrote to the Spendee team, but they replied that they needed more details and screenshots to help me. I was at a loss as to how screenshots could capture my problems better than my description of the same. It was as detailed as possible as can be seen above. So I did not respond hoping that they would take care of the bugs in time. Which they did after a few months, however.
The latest update takes care of the duplication problem but the tagging system is still not as efficient as before. And the app has become painfully slow to use. So the app is still a far cry from what it used to be.
Recent updates are not good
I have used this app for over an year now. I was super happy with first 10 months. I don’t know what happened now, have they changed their developers, after most of the updates, I have started to face difficulties. One update have me crazy symbols in calendar. In another the app crashed. All these difficulties were addressed back to Spendee team and they took almost two weeks to resolve it. Now with the last update when I click on wallet, entire app is hanging. So my recommendation is don’t buy the full version for life time. Rather check for monthly/ yearly subscription and see if you like the app.
I must say I quite love it, very nice but with recent bugs with most of the updates, I am starting to have a dual thought.
Transactions missing
I’ve linked my ICICI Bank credit card to my Spendee plus account, it’s been more than a month the transactions aren’t being reflected in the app. But the amount is being shown correctly. I’ve been writing about this issue from last 15 days, but there’s no response from the other end. What they ask me is to refresh my bank account access, I’ve done it more than 15 times, but no favourable news, I hope Spendee gonna take my review as their priority and fix this bug. I think if this doesn’t work then I will have to end my subscription, and it doesn’t take much time to substitute from this app to another.
