Display Menu shows a status item in your menu bar that lets you change your display settings with a single click.
Depending on your display setup, you can set the screen resolution, toggle mirroring, and adjust the refresh rates.
You can enable additional features like Retina resolutions (on Retina Displays), AppleScript support, and resolution bookmarks as a paid upgrade.

------- 2.0 ---------
With version 2.0 we have added a number of great new features to our Display Menu software! From the large collection of emails we have received from you over the last year, we have distilled the three most wanted and, hopefully, most useful bits of added functionality and implemented them. While we are pretty happy how the new features have turned out, it was still a lot of work: apart from solving a number of technical difficulties, we went through a long design process to include the new functionality but, at the same time, keep Display Menu's UI streamlined and uncluttered. This is also the reason why we decided to bundle the *new* features only with the new 'Pro' version of Display Menu. The basic free version of version 2.0 still contains all the features from version 1.4; the Pro version is a paid upgrade that you can purchase from within the App.
2.2.3 14/01/2018
Version 2.2.2 added more scripting commands to Display Menu:
- List all available displays by name
- List all available resolutions for a display
- Select a resolution by specifying pixel dimensions, refresh rate, and retina options
Added visual updates for OX 10.10 Yosemite and backwards compatibility for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.
Added an option to show low-fidelity alternatives to the Retina resolutions in the menu.

------- 2.1 ---------
Added an option to show low-fidelity alternatives to the Retina resolutions in the menu.
------- 2.0.1 ---------
We fixed two bugs that were introduced with version 2.0:
1) Users of the free version did not have the Quartz Debug enabled HiDPI resolutions in their display menu. This bug has been fixed and the free version now works like 1.4 again in this regard.
2) Users of the Pro version with monitors that have slightly varying refresh rates were not able to create bookmarks for some resolutions. With 2.0.1 bookmarking should work as intended for these monitors.

2.0.1 16/05/2014
Streamlined the Menu and added an In-App Purchase for adding support for Retina Displays, resolution bookmarks, and the ability to automate Display Menu via AppleScript.
If you like the new version of Display Menu, we'd be happy if you gave us a positive review on the Mac App Store.
2.0 06/05/2014
We have added a "Detect Displays" menu item for those of you who regularly work with VGA-based displays (e.g., projectors). We also decided to remove the "Recommend" menu item. When the software was new, we wanted you to be able to tell your friends about it. Now that so many people use Display Menu every day, we found that it is not really needed anymore.
1.4 18/12/2013
Added support for OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
1.3 24/10/2013
Changed "Start on Login" behavior to comply with Apple's sandboxing guidelines. This causes Display Menu to not appear in the "Login Items" regardless of the setting.
1.1 02/02/2013
- Added a feature to coalesce similar resolutions into one menu item taking the best refresh rate
- Rewrote much of the backend code base in Swift
- Fixed a bug where the aspect ratio badges were broken in newer versions of macOS
