This is the free version of the mobile application Parenzana – the most famous cycling and hiking route in Istria. It contains information about the route, bike&bed accommodation facilities, services/repair shops and other useful information.
The app contains a map with the Parenzana route in Croatia (from Poreč to Plovanija-Sečovlje border crossing). In total it's about 78 km. It also contain various side tracks leading to interesting locations around Parenzana.
If you want you can use the app for navigation or you can "collect" checkins and become an official (and certified) "Friend of Parenzana". To get that you need to checkin on at least 10 of the predefined checkin locations. Checkins are your (selfie) photos which must be made in those places.
About Parenzana:
Once a railway, besides passengers was transporting wine, olive oil, salt, stone, lime, coal and wood. Today, Parenzana is the most famous and most visited cycling and hiking trail in Istria. Due to rough terrain in some places, the trail is suitable for mountain bikes, but not for road and trekking bikes.
Parenzana has 9 tunnels, 11 bridges and 6 viaducts with many scenic lookouts.
This application was published by the Region of Istria and IT specialist and recreational cyclist Tomo Krajina.
