ShuggaShugga audibly announces your latest blood glucose value using data sourced directly from the Health app on your iPhone. Important: ShuggaShugga is primarily intended for people using Loop.app, Nightscout, or another system that writes live blood glucose values into Apple Health. For the best experience, your blood glucose data should be updated in Health in near real time. Without Loop.app, Nightscout, or another live glucose source, blood glucose values in Apple Health may be delayed by hours due to Apple Health processing and regression analysis. In those situations, ShuggaShugga may not be suitable, since it depends on fresh glucose data for timely spoken announcements. For users who manually enter blood glucose into Health, ShuggaShugga can still read values aloud, though the experience is significantly better with automatically updated live data. The app can announce your latest blood glucose value at your preferred interval (for example, every 30 seconds). Background Mode ShuggaShugga can attempt to continue announcing blood glucose values while running in the background, as permitted by iOS. Background announcements generally work best when the iPhone screen remains on and tend to be most predictable when the device is plugged into power or has a high battery charge. Because background execution is controlled by iOS, ShuggaShugga has limited control over how consistently announcements occur.
