I’m not the greatest guitarist so, in order to be sure I could play decently I decided long ago to only play music I composed. Some 90 actually good songs later Jamzone is the first glimmer of hope for playing others. I have played in concerts but getting musicians together is very difficult even if they are willing—so Jamzone fills two voids. The third is being able to change key—here I am playing Sade while singing my baritone, Joe Cocker without really difficult jazz chords—the third void is chords—I’ve always written my music like Jamzone, calling an Am the same when it isn’t because I use a fretclamp. So while other musicians scowl at the anathema, I rejoice in the simplicity.
