Launch Buddy is an iPhone app designed to provide detailed information on upcoming rocket launches. It integrates data to display launch schedules, mission details, and real-time weather conditions at key launch sites. Key Features: Launch List: View a scrollable list of upcoming launches, organized by date. Launch Details: Select any launch to access specific information, including: Launch name, location, and a countdown timer. Mission description, including orbit and type. Real-time METAR weather data, with updates on wind speed, gusts, temperature, humidity, visibility, cloud cover, and flight category (VFR/MVFR/IFR/LIFR). Rocket details, such as family and variant. Launch pad and location specifics. Status indicators with color-coded badges (e.g., green for "Go," orange for "TBC/TBD"). Weather Integration: Access current weather reports from locations like Starbase, Vandenberg, Cape Canaveral, and Hawthorne, automatically matched to the selected launch site. The app uses optimized API endpoints for efficient data retrieval, with launch data under 1MB in size. Caching ensures quick access: launches update every 10 minutes, weather every 5 minutes, and wind data every 2 minutes. Offline mode shows the most recent cached information. Planned enhancements include launch notifications, weather forecasts, location filters, bookmarking, and more. Requires iOS 17.0+ and an internet connection for live updates.
