Amud tells you what is different about today - in davening, in the zmanim, and in your learning.

WHAT YOU GET
Today's davening, decided for you. Every change that matters, in davening order, with a plain English explanation of what it is and when it happens. On an ordinary day it simply says nothing unusual, and that is the point.
The day's zmanim on the front card. Sunrise, latest Shema, chatzos, Mincha, shkia, nightfall, and on a fast day the one time you actually need: when it ends.
Limud Yomi, tracked properly. Daf Yomi, Dirshu (Daf HaYomi B'Halacha and the Mishnah Berurah cycle), Mishnah Yomi, Nach Yomi, Rambam, Chofetz Chaim, Tanya and more. Mark what you have learned, watch your real progress toward your own siyum, and catch up on missed days without losing your place.
Your nusach, not just your spelling. Ashkenaz, Sefard, Chabad and Edot HaMizrach change the actual answers, and every transliteration matches - Ashkenazi for Ashkenaz, Sefardi for Edot HaMizrach.
The week ahead, before you need it. A Shabbos and Yom Tov briefing you can read in advance, or print and share as a clean sheet for the fridge, for the days you cannot look at your phone.
Reminders that only speak when there is something to say. Shema before it is too late, candle lighting, when a fast begins, the Omer, Eruv Tavshilin, your daily learning, and an optional nudge for the days you still owe. A fast-day countdown sits on your Lock Screen.
A small compass beside the settings gear shows you the direction of the Kodesh HaKodashim from wherever you are standing. Turn until the arrow points straight up and you are facing it.
Honest where Jews differ. Where communities genuinely disagree, Amud says so and marks the item minhag rather than pretending. It is a davening aid, not a posek.
Private and offline. No account, no sign up, no server. Your location is read on the phone to tell Israel from chutz la'aretz and never leaves it. There is no analytics and no tracking of any kind.

YOUR ZMANIM, BY NEIGHBOURHOOD
The times were always worked out from your exact coordinates, but the card only
ever named the city - so a man in Golders Green read "London", four miles and two
minutes away. It now reads "Golders Green, London". Nothing about the times has
changed. The card simply stops under-reporting what it already knew.
PLACE NAMES IN YOUR OWN WORDS
Jerusalem now reads Yerushalayim. Safed reads Tzfas for Ashkenaz and Tzfat for
Edot HaMizrach, Tiberias reads Teveria or Tveria, Hebron reads Chevron. Modern
Israeli names are left as Israelis say them - Ramot stays Ramot - and everywhere
else is untouched, so London is still London. Change your nusach and every screen
re-labels at once.
WHEN A ZMAN DOES NOT EXIST, AMUD NOW SAYS SO
Far enough north in high summer the sun never sinks far enough below the horizon
for nacht, the end of Shabbos or the end of a fast to happen at all. Those rows
used to disappear with nothing said.
They now explain themselves in words, and they name the right zman. The heading
used to say "No Nacht tonight" even on nights when nacht existed perfectly well
and only the end of Shabbos did not. Where the sun does not rise and set at all,
the card says that too.
Words, and no number. Where the sun does not set properly the poskim differ, so
Amud will not invent a time and dress it up as a zman. It says what is missing and
tells you to ask your rov.
REMINDERS REACH FURTHER AHEAD
The nightly reminders were running out about nine days ahead while slots sat
reserved for events up to six weeks away. They now reach around eleven days, and
nothing else lost its place in the queue.
IF A REMINDER NEVER ARRIVES, IT IS USUALLY FOCUS
A Sleep or wind-down Focus silences apps it has not been allowed, without telling
you - and the Evening Shema reminder fires after nightfall, which is exactly when
such a Focus is running. Switch that reminder on and Amud now tells you so, and
where to allow it.
ALSO IN THIS UPDATE
The small notes naming a depression angle now follow your nusach, so an Edot
HaMizrach user no longer reads a row headed "Tzet hakochavim" with "Tzeis 8
degrees" printed underneath it.
On getamud.com, the times card no longer names a town it cannot know. The website
has no geocoder, so after finding your position it was labelling it with the
timezone's city - Nottingham and Manchester both read "London". It now says "your
current location" and shows the coordinates.
No times have changed anywhere.
