Thanks for using Halide! Last week we released an update with official support for the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max. We've collected your feedback (and bug reports), and decided to put out this small update.
You may notice we've improved responsiveness when adjusting manual exposure. Let's just say we're preparing Halide for some exciting new iPhone camera features.
We've also heard from a lot of folks who received Halide Mark II as a free upgrade, but would still like a "Pay Once" option to ensure they receive Mark II updates far into the future. If you go to Settings, and "Member Center," we now have a button to pay once.
This update includes all the features of our last update, which we'll recap:
THE IPHONE 12 MINI AND IPHONE 12 PRO MAX UPDATE
It’s been an exciting few weeks for iPhone users. First, we released Halide Mark II, a total redesign of our app with over 50+ new features, for free for all our existing users. Then Apple released the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. And now, Apple and Lux bring you some extra treats: the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, which go great with this new update: Halide 2.0.4.
Halide 2.0.4 brings compatibility for the new tiny iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, allowing the best camera app on the App Store to let you unlock the power of the massive new camera sensor, in-body sensor-shift stabilization and 65mm telephoto lens on the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and the stunning f/1.6 Wide camera on the iPhone 12 mini.
Here's a few of the things we've done: We've updated the Technical Readout to support the latest iPhones. We've added new frame lines, tweaked controls, layout and design, and optimized the app. On iPhone 12 Pro Max, we now capture the most detailed, low-noise RAW files that have ever been shot on any iPhone. And we're just getting started!
This update also brings a number of performance improvements and layout fixes for all of our users, from the iPhone SE to the iPhone 11. Sharing RAW files works better. Things somehow look and feel even better!
As a reminder, Halide Mark II is a free update for all existing Halide 1 users. If you loved the update, please consider getting a Membership to support us in the Settings. As a reward, you will unlock some special icons.
We're listening to feedback and bug reports, so if you have any requests, please reach out to email@example.com and we'll get right on it. You can also reach out to @halidecamera on Twitter. We're a small, three person team, but we'll try to get back to you as soon as possible.
Finally if you enjoy Halide Mark II, please consider leaving a rating. It goes a long way.

With Halide, shooting with XS MAX is great except one problem
I enjoy shooting with my iPhone XS MAX in RAW.
I took so many stunning photos with the app while I’m in Hawaii. Especially taking vertical in finder is much easier and manual focus enables me to replicate what I see. I just want one more feature. That is the shutter noise reduction or mute. This problem is only applicable to hardware sold in Japan, I guess. iPhone sold here come with mandatory shutter sound, which means it will make a sound even on manner mode. This felt very annoying since camera is great on XS MAX and this app enables me to use the device as on the go camera while on travel. For annoyed iPhone users out there, there’re lots of camera app which reduce shutter noise. But most of those app is terrible as camera app.
So I want this desires feature to the beat camera app on iOS so that halide will be best choice for mobile photographers . Sorry for the long review. I hope I could hear from developers of the app.
It is a good apps but
I found something that makes me uneasy. I like to take a picture of bugs and it requires silent camera. Since I bought my phone in Japan, I need to do a trick to make my camera silent by playing some musics then mute it in apple stock camera. This apps is really different, although my music has been muted, whenever I open this app the sound will suddenly appears out of nowhere (although the volume in 0% and in silent mode). Can you please fix this bug? at least make it just work fine as stock camera.
No Zoom on iPhone 8
The app looks great, but I discovered too late that on my phone model it does not include a zoom feature. I consider this quite an important feature and this lack critical!
I looked again on the app description in the store and this is not mentioned at all, only in its manual on an external domain.
The lack of this feature - and possibly others - should be more prominent, so beware before buying and check what you will get.
