My friends recommended this to me previously, though they didn’t renew their annual membership this year. A few days ago, I was curious about the functionality, UI/UX, etc., and I thought I had a three-day trial, so I made a note to pause the membership right after signing up. It turns out Speechify ONLY offers a trial for the ANNUAL subscription. As a first-time user, I couldn’t see any difference between choosing the annual or monthly payment cycle—I just wanted to explore the service. But then I noticed my credit card was charged. Of course I requested a refund, customer support insisted that this was stated in their lengthy terms of service.Frankly, the experience felt misleading and frustrating. What’s the point of making a quick profit at the expense of user trust? It ruined everything. I don’t even want to use the tool now, especially since it blocks my keyboard shortcuts and interrupts my regular browsing.I completely regret signing up for Speechify.
