A port of Dexed, a FM Synthesizer. Features over 20,000 Cartridges with 32 patches each. Comes with AudioUnit AUv3 plugin for use inside AUM and other DAW apps like GarageBand. Get a camera kit and plug in a midi controller through USB, or get a 5-PIN DIN 1/in 1/out, to: USB and use the camera kit through USB MIDI Spec, NOTE: some devices handle SysEx differently and therefore we cannot promise support for SysEx, so invest in connectors and cables wisely. If you have questions involving making MIDI-USB work the best for your situation, email support. This iOS app was designed especially with small interfaces in mind. Example: an iPhone 5S or a resizable window inside AUM. If one clicks the menu eye, a feature LOCK SCROLL can be –very– important to set knobs, sliders, et cetera: if screen size is limited. LOCK PARAMs in the eye menu locks the parameters for scrolling without knocking loose the preset. In the CARTs menu double tap a cartridge to load a series of patches, the files will have a .syx extension. To use MIDI CC, in the menu eye you must first turn on MIDI CC. When MIDI CC is on it makes the tap events react like a right mouse button click. NOTE: MIDI CC, in eye menu, doesn't have to be on after CC controls are mapped. MIDI CC touch modifier will also turn off after you have successfully mapped a CC control, or when you delete the current mappings. You can turn it on again later to turn off mappings or create new CC mappings. I would suggest setting CC knobs in the bottom section of the screen – above keyboard (if visible). Currently you must save patch in DAW – for instance: GarageBand or AUM. Once we can determine unity and saving/loading between the AUv3 plugin and the StandAlone app, external save will be eventually developed. There is a pathway set to transfer .syx files through iTunes to the StandAlone app, only. Other plans include fixing pixelated images, a quick zoom to set CC mode and updating GUI to a higher degree, make sure midi CC knobs update.

Dexed has been around for years and it has been among the best free VST synths in the history. On iOS, 6 op FM synth is most wanted while there are some 4 ops. As the creator says it is not completed regarding GUI but sounds great. It apparently reads sysx so we expect we can use any old Yamaha DX7 family patches.

1.2.1, a new installation. Multiple instances working in AUM, DX-7 Midi Out working in AUM, added quick close buttons. Future plans are to get the SAVE .syx working again, currently you must use your DAW to save presets.

UX changes, also verified that Midi CC works in Standalone and in AUM. The knobs do not update with the midi changes visually, but do audibly. That is a TODO. You can test by setting a Midi CC on Algorithm in the lower third of the synth. The algorithm plot window will change, but the knob won’t. Midi CC is more error-controlled now. Midi CC ON now locks scrolling and locks parameters and is meant for a single run. So if you want to map an other value, you will have to turn it on again.
Past updates: Zooming has been removed temporarily so you don't have to suffer with an unstable release until it's working. Please let me know of any errors as I now have a STABLE and DEVELOPMENT branch. Panning/scrolling is done with two touches now. LOCK PARAMs and LOCK SCROLL also now work again. You can scroll the CART .syx file browser with one touch, but may need to pan with two touches to the top of the CARTs file viewer. Knobs and sliders move with one touch. If you didn't get the master collection of 640,000+ patches, delete the app off the home screen and download from the App Store again. Knobs and sliders move with one touch. HERE IT IS! Happy Birthday everyone! Over 20,000 Cartridges added each with 32 patches each. Make sure you have a at least a good 5 minutes of power before initializing, and do not force quit! I spent the last 35 hours with advanced duplicate checking algorithms to iron out the duplicates in the library. There were a ton of duplicates. Also lots of time getting this stable in AUM, GarageBand and StandAlone. There will be a loading screen if the new master collection library needs to be added, and it takes a long time to initialize, so be advised. The download size increased quite a bit, so this is a BIG update!

Zoom feature focuses to a pivot point. Pan gesture locks parameters, zoom gesture locks parameters.

This was not a 'light' release. I tunneled more into the native iOS side of things and now allow for native Gestures. You should be able to zoom up to 4x with a Pinch Gesture, and scroll only with a Pan Gesture. You cannot lock zooming, so be careful. Let me know if anything doesn't work. Allowing of zoom is a prerequisite for the 1337 Focus which will be in development next. The purpose of 1337 Focus is to make Midi CC connections quickly. Pay attention new stuff will be added.

Major changes. Midi CC Feature should nearly work in StandAlone mode and experimentally work in AUv3 mode. Mostly just issues with scaling in AUM and Garage Band. Replaced some of the GUI with native resolution widgets, the graphical overhaul is not complete, however. LOCK PARAM now visually disable parameters on synth as well as disabling touch events. Some features have been disabled until development is done, SAVE is disabled for the moment. So save locally in Garage Band, AUM and use the DAWs in-app preset saving, for now. On the second startup and on, the program will link your iTunes file management uploads with the CARTs, if you have more patches to upload. Implementing this in the AUv3 may not be possible, but we'll see. Stay tuned for light updates periodically.

The toolbox is larger on iPads. LOCK PARAMs now works in toolbox so you can scroll without bumping your patch settings. STORE menu still in development, 1337 Focus does nothing currently. MIDI CC is not implemented well. Look out for newer versions.
