6. Receive your Sony Bank WALLET (*2)
*1. You will need to scan your Japan residence card, health insurance card, full name in katakana, etc. (The app will list the documents required depending on your length of stay in Japan to date.)
*2. Once we've set up your account, you'll receive your token in about 5 days and your Sony Bank WALLET (Cash card with Visa debit) in about 10 days. US citizens will need to sign additional papers, which might delay card delivery.

So system is great if everything works but when there is a dent or normal tear in your resident card you can’t open an account.
Contacted the support chat but they say I have to go reissue a new card seriously, no way to apply in a different way other than the app.
Same if your phone specs don’t match the app they don’t offer any other option. Great very useful system I hope they look into this.

The app does the job in English; when successful, all the rest arrives in Japanese: letters, instructions, online banking apps...
