Black Screens lets you black out the displays you are not using, directly from your Mac’s menu bar. Watch a movie, read a document or work without distractions from the light and content on your other screens.
ONE CLICK TO CHOOSE
Click a display icon to black out that screen or make it visible again. Icons follow the display arrangement configured in macOS. Hover over an icon to see the display’s name and status.
FOCUS ON ONE DISPLAY
Hold Option and click the display you want to use: the others go dark. Choose “Show All Displays” to make every screen visible again.
AUTOMATIC BLACKOUT
Enable the automatic option and let Black Screens handle the rest. When the active window fills a display, your other screens black out automatically. When you leave full screen, the app restores their previous state.
It works with more than video: focus on documents, notes and other full-screen applications too.

HOW IT WORKS
Black Screens places a black overlay on selected displays. It does not physically turn them off or disconnect them. Blacking out a display does not replace locking your Mac.
Automatic detection is based on the active window’s dimensions. It does not analyze content or distinguish a video from another full-screen application.
