I became a Hilton Honors member during the pandemic via AmEx Platinum. After learning bookings through AmEx didn’t earn points, Hilton referred me to this app.While planning a family trip in Japan, I used the app to book for 2 adults and 1 child (age 0–18 selectable). The app showed hotel options and rates as expected. However, at check-in, we were told there’s an extra charge for kids over 6—something not disclosed during booking.We felt blindsided and embarrassed, stuck with a non-negotiable fee for a week-long stay. If the app had reflected the charge or restricted age selection, we would’ve understood. Instead, this gap caused unnecessary frustration for us and the hotel staff.This is a serious flaw in the booking experience. Hilton must fix this by either:1.Accurately reflecting child fees, or2.Warning users or restricting age selection in applicable regions.We expect better from a brand like Hilton. Guests and staff deserve better.
