VU303 is the successor to VU202, the pocket sampler downloaded by more than 19,000 people on iOS. It is a phrase sampler and pattern sequencer built like the hardware samplers of the late '90s. Every key is labelled with what it does, every knob turns, and everything you need to make a beat sits on one panel – on your iPhone, on your iPad, or on stage.
VU303 is AUv3 Effects Host but also works as AUv3 Instrument Plugin!
COMING FROM VU202
• Your VU202 projects open and sound as they did: their pads keep the VU202 engine, and you can move any pad to the new VU303 engine
• New in VU303: six views instead of one screen, a new sampling engine, patterns of up to 256 steps, a mixer with AUv3 inserts, LIVE XY effects and MIDI LEARN
SAMPLE ANYTHING
• Record from the microphone or an audio interface, resample the app's own output, or import audio files, whole folders and the sound of a video
• Nine built-in vintage drumkits with 785 samples
• Two engines per pad: the new VU303 engine (STANDARD 44.1 kHz, LONG 22.05 kHz, LO-FI 11.025 kHz) and the classic VU202 engine
32 PADS IN 4 BANKS
• Gate or one-shot, loop, reverse, and stereo / mono / left / right per pad
• Choke banks, pad copy, roll and hold
• Three CTRL knobs for volume, pan and pitch – or for the selected effect
TRIM, CHOP AND STRETCH
• Start, end, level, attack and decay; truncate, normalize, reverse and silence
• Chop a sample into 4, 8 or 16 slices across a bank
• Loop points with crossfade
• Time-stretch to the project tempo, with or without keeping the pitch
STEP SEQUENCER AND SONG
• 32 patterns of up to 256 steps (16 bars)
• Velocity, pan, key, nudge and gate for every step
• Live recording with quantize, swing from 50 to 75 %, count-in and tap tempo
• Chain patterns with repeat counts into a full song
MIXER AND EFFECTS
• Channels for banks A–D, the pads and the master, with fader, mute, solo and meters
• 26 DSP effects: filters, EQ, compressors, limiter, delay, tape delay, reverb, chorus, phaser, flanger, overdrive, distortion, lo-fi, vinyl sim, slicer, isolator, radio tuning and more
• Insert slots on every bank and the master – including your AUv3 effect plug-ins
LIVE FX
• Eight XY pads on the master output, each with one of 16 performance effects such as tape stop, filter, beat repeat, grain scatter, vinyl warp and crusher
• LATCH keeps an effect on after you lift your finger
MIDI
• Play the pads from any MIDI keyboard or pad controller
• MIDI LEARN: map knobs, keys, pads, faders, XY pads and TRIM markers to your controller, and save and share the mappings as templates
• MIDI channel filter and velocity curves
EXPORT AND PROJECTS
• Render a pattern or the whole song as a 24-bit WAV mix or as stems
• Autosave; projects are saved as .vu303 files
• Send projects to VU Studio
MADE FOR TOUCH
• Layouts for iPhone and iPad, in portrait and landscape
• Adjustable text sizes and hold-to-magnify for every label
