• iGate/digipeater status is now shown in the station information view.
• In the "more" menu of the station information view, new menu items have been added to open "Stations heard" and "Stations which heard this" tables, for the current month and previous 6 months, like on the web site. Tap an entry to reveal the raw packet for the longest distance between those two stations during the month, and tap the packet again to decode it.
• It's now possible to tap a raw packet in the TNC view to decode the packet and show the decoded fields.
• Fixed time range handling when tracking specific stations which didn't send a position recently. Do show them on the map!
• Translation updates, thank you to everyone who helped!
• Some additional under-the-hood improvements.
2.8.1 4月6日
• The minimum supported iOS version is now 14.1. Yes, I did the math.
• Weather data: Luminosity now shows the correct W/m² unit in graphs, and also appears in the station info view.
• Fixed a tab bar colour flickering when scrolling table views. It was basically a tiny disco, and not the good kind.
• New language: Hungarian! Köszönjük to HG4ZKZ and HG1DFB, who apparently had time for this and we are very grateful.
• Translation updates for Spanish, Traditional Chinese (zh-Hant), and Dutch. Thanks to everyone involved — you know who you are.
• The login prompt in the Beacon view can now speak your language. Literally. After someone translates that new string.
• Overhauled state restoration to use current iOS APIs. Bonus: the User Guide now remembers where you were, so you can actually go back and forth between the instructions and the thing you're trying to do without losing your place and giving up. Tap the navigation bar to scroll to top.
• Filter list: source filter (network/TNC) now survives an app restart. It had been quietly forgetting this on every launch, like a golden retriever, but now it does not.
• Launch image is now PDF/vector format. Crisp at any size.
• Decoded packets: "messagerej" field is now shown for the message-id of rejected text messages. Rejection, now with proper attribution.
• Some other internal improvements here and there! We tidied up. You probably won't notice, but I will, and that's enough for me.
2.8.0 3月25日
• User guide updated: how to change email address (yes, it’s finally in there).
• Translations updated: FI, JA, zh-Hans — big thanks to the language heroes.
• Quicker refresh of shown data on map in certain situations — fewer stale pixels, more delight.
• Rebuilt for iOS 26 — wearing the latest OS clothes.
• Fixed a rare bug that made exactly one mysterious user experience a crash when leaving the Beacon view — sorry, unknown person, the app forgives you.
2.7.4 2025/11/21
• TNC waterfall view: Show Mark/Space frequency marker lines for tuning aid on HF SSB.
• Improved favourite station list synchronisation timing.
• Improved refresh timing for quicker updates when zooming and panning the map.
• Show 5 decimals in coordinates when displaying decimal degrees.
• Map: Show a message when zoomed out too much, instructing to zoom in closer.
• Beacon view: Make the whole digipeater path a button to make the path selection easier to find.
• Beacon view: Make symbol image clickable to make it easier to get to the symbol selection view.
• User guide updates.
• Translation update: NL
2.7.3 2025/08/29
• Added a 300 baud HF AX.25 modem! It uses 1600 / 1800 Hz Mark/Space frequencies, like Dire Wolf, so the 30m APRS dial frequency is 10147.60 kHz USB. This is an initial version - tuning aids are missing in the Waterfall view, and will be added later. Decoding performance is not bad but not great - no FX.25 or multiple demodulators to compensate for off-frequency transmissions. These will be added later.
• Fixed the Message button from station info view to open up the correct thread where received messages will arrive from that station, instead of creating a duplicate thread.
2.7.2 2025/08/22
• New complete translation enabled: Slovak! Thank you!
• Translation updates: Nederlandse taal, 日本語
• The More -> Help view has been replaced with a brand new User Guide, which is more comprehensive than before. The guide is also available online.
2.7.1 2025/08/06
• TNC selection view: Make it possible to manually configure TCP KISS TNCs by entering an IP address and a port (or a hostname and a port).
• New real-time oscilloscope in the software AFSK modem. Implemented with Metal/GPU so that the CPU usage is not affected noticeably. Refresh time (T) and decay (D) buttons adjust the scope.
• Waterfall! Now when the modem scope runs on the GPU, we can have a hardware accelerated waterfall view, too. Tap the OSC / WF button to switch between scope and waterfall. Waterfall is disabled on older hardware which does not support the current GPU acceleration configuration.
• Remove audio sample format conversions in the software AFSK modem.
• Slightly smaller CPU use when the software AFSK modem is running in the background.
• Fixed two different crashes seen in the wild (once each)
• Localisation updates: NL, JA. Thank you!
2.7.0 2025/07/29
• Translation updates: German, Spanish, Japanese, Romanian, Chinese (both zh-Hant and zh-Hans). Thank you, everyone!
• Fresh versions of the APRS device identification database are automatically downloaded from the upstream source - but only when modified.
• Updated the local pre-installed aprs-deviceid database.
• Clean up and vacuum the local target / station cache database periodically. Reduce local disk writes with improved journaling.
• Slightly improved APRS text message fetch scheduling.
• Reworked text message queue/database access in the transmit & fetching scheduler, hoping to fix a few rare crashes.
• DSP AFSK modem: Support transmitting back-to-back frames from the queue (up to 3 at a time). This reduces transmission time, as most packets are small, the txdelay is long, and a lot of time is spent waiting for the next transmission slot.
• A new TNC developer view for people implementing KISS modems: Support sending 1-3 small and 1-2 large packets, back-to-back. Useful for buffering tests and back-to-back packet support. Packets are sent with a "NOGATE" path, which should prevent them from traversing the APRS-IS. Tested with the AFSK modem and the Mobilinkd TNC3 (both seem to support back-to-back transmit and receive correctly).
• Almost all frameworks & dependencies were upgraded to latest versions.
• Built for iOS 18!
2.6.2 2025/07/15
• It’s now possible to change the account callsign/nickname from within the app (More -> My account).
• A few improvements in the station profile rename feature, to improve the chances of having an AX.25 compliant callsign-SSID by default.
2.6.1 2024/10/23
• New button in the map view to change the size of station symbol graphics and callsign labels. I'm getting older and my age vision is making progress, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's also great when using APRS in a car, or perhaps on an iPad, and looking the device when a bit further away.
• Made the map buttons a little bit larger, overall.
• A brand new symbol for RVs (Recreational Vehicles) to replace the rather boring "RV" text! This new symbol can also point to the direction the vehicle is moving.
• More @3x high-resolution graphics to make things look really sharp on the latest devices.
2.6.0 2024/10/13
• Improve station symbol placement on the map. Don't just place them in random incorrect positions near the correct position, but rather draw them in the actual precise position instead. This bug was introduced in version 2.5.4.
Improvements in version 2.5.4:
• 1-year Extra Features subscriptions now support Family Sharing!
• Localisation updates: Updated translations for Chinese/Traditional, Japanese, and German. Thank you, everyone who helped on this!
• Implemented device identifier detection for Mic-E position packets received from a TNC, with the help of the aprs-deviceid database.
• Updated the aprs-deviceid database to the latest version to detect brand new devices.
• Messaging: The app used to crash when deleting threads without actually selecting any threads for deletion first. This might seem like an odd thing to do, but as a paying customer you have the right to delete all of 0 threads, and the app should certainly not crash. It no longer does.
• Messaging: The app used to crash when the "Select all" button was pressed, but no threads existed for selection. Fixed the silly little bug so that all of 0 threads can now selected without a crash.
• Messaging: Only show relevant actions in the message context menu (when pressing a message for a longer time). It no longer suggests you to "retransmit" a received message.
• Messaging: Links are now clickable in messages, and shall open up your preferred web browser.
• TNC: When stopping the DSP modem using the Disconnect button, the modem now actually closes the audio input device, and the recording indicator goes away.
• Replaced several deprecated iOS APIs with new ones to keep up with new iOS versions. Updated a bunch of other little things to new versions.
2.5.5 2024/10/09
• 1-year Extra Features subscriptions now support Family Sharing!
• Localisation updates: Updated translations for Chinese/Traditional, Japanese, and German. Thank you, everyone who helped on this!

2.5.4 2024/10/08
• Enabled new translation for Chinese - Traditional, and updated Romanian translation. Thank you, contributors!
• Custom notification sound for incoming messages.
• Updated aprs-deviceid database for local device identification for packets received from a TNC, including some new radios.
• Some internal enhancements which should not, in theory, have any visible side effects.
2.5.3 2024/02/20
• Message mass deletion actually works again!
• Improved message mass deletion speed (a whole lot, actually).
• Avoid accidentally fetching back deleted messages from the backend after app restart.
• Fixed outgoing "ack" acknowledgement message format when acking a message with a "replyack"-style message identifier.
• Improved content refreshing in the message threads list view when receiving new messages.
• Show message timestamp in a message thread view.
2.5.2 2024/02/05
• Display time/date of the latest message in the message threads view.
• Greatly improved message notification throughput and latency in the aprs.fi backend (affecting older application versions too).
• Improved error handling for a few network connections.
• Updates in translations: Catalan, Portuguese, Dutch (Thank you!)
2.5.1 2024/01/31
• Added a search feature for message threads. Allows searching by callsign and contents of the latest message.
• Use the Edit mode to select multiple message threads, and then use the Trash can button to delete them all. Slide two fingers to quickly select a range of threads.
• In Edit Mode, you can also use Search to find all "HOTG" APRS Thursday threads, use the Select All button to select all found threads, and then delete them with the Trash can button.
• The station information view broke on iPads in 2.4.2 - fixed it!
2.5.0 2024/01/09
• Enabled password manager/shared password support with the website and app login/signup views.
• Localisation updates: NL, PT, JP.
• Fixed a fairly rare crash in target data caching.
• Remastered embedded photos to reduce application size by 1-3 MB depending on device type - and improved looks, too.
2.4.3 2024/01/04
• New Romanian translation!
• Added a proper message details view for transmitted messages.
• A few localisation updates here and there.
• Use localised text for message delivery status.
• Framework updates.
• Fixed a couple of smaller bugs.
2.4.2 2024/01/01
• Login status is refreshed more often - email validation status should be updated quicker after clicking that weird link in your email.
• Fixed a couple of rare crashes which a few users experienced.
• Show a scale view on the map.
• Improve timing of some scheduled events like beaconing.
• Updates to frameworks, rebuilt for iOS 16.
2.4.1 2023/02/08
• Favourite stations can be starred in the station details view, after which they will appear in the Favourites list in the search view. They'll also magically synchronise with multiple devices, as well as the aprs.fi web site - tap the "star" button on the right edge of the map view! When using two devices at the same time, it may take a short while for the synchronisation to happen both ways.
• The map should now restore to the previous view more reliably. There was a bug where the last view (visible area & map type) were sometimes not stored, if you visited the app and only viewed non-map views, and the app was terminated by iOS in the background.
• Localisation updates! Plenty of new translations from many contributors. Thank you!
2.4.0 2022/08/14
• Graphs refresh automatically every 30 seconds, and when reopening the app
• Localisation updates: Catalan. Thank you, it is 100% complete!
• Improved iOS 15 support
• Minimum supported iOS version is now 12.4
• Fixes for messaging functionality on iOS 12 and small displays
• Updated APRS device model identification database
• Fixed a crash when trying to open message details view (long press a Message, select Details)
• A rather big bunch of under-the-hood improvements which are not visible, but needed to be done
2.3.2 2021/11/17
This version improves offline behaviour and fixes a few bugs.
• Improved Extra Features subscription handling during offline use.
• Map view: Make it possible to dismiss and hide error messages, such as the error message about no network. It got a bit silly in the long term when using the app offline for a longer while. Tap the error message and select "Dismiss" to make it go away!
• Replaced alert popup views with a new pretty popup in many places to remove a deprecated UI component.
• Fixed a bug where the app would crash when receiving a packet with a short destination callsign from a TNC. The Device Identification code got a bit upset about it.
• Messaging: Show a correct "not logged in" error in case of "bad callsign" if not logged in. An initial login is required to create and synchronise callsigns and profiles; after that messaging will still work offline as before.
• Tons of updates in translations: German, Icelandic, Japanese, Portuguese, Dutch, Simplified Chinese. Thank you to everyone who helped!
This will be the last version which supports iOS 11 - in case you have one of the two devices out there with iOS 11, please look into upgrading. Thanks!
2.3.1 2021/08/06
• Custom filtering of stations shown on map, just like on the web site!
• Filters now work on data received from a TNC.
• Device identification for stations received from a TNC (excluding Mic-E packets).
2.3.0 2021/02/13
• RX-only iGate (Extra Features subscription required) with a heard stations list (no subscription needed). TX iGate and digipeater coming up later.
• Support for Mac and Linux versions of Dire Wolf 1.7, as well as other TCP KISS servers on the WiFi/LAN with mDNS DNS-SD discovery support.
• Custom digipeater paths when transmitting with a TNC, allow selecting an empty digipeater path too.
2.2.0 2021/01/25
• Handoff support on target information views: Open the same view on another device quickly
• Enable searching previously looked-up stations from iOS global search tool
• Fixed background audio processing in iOS 14: The DSP audio modem will keep running when app is in background. Naturally it also shows the red microphone warning about the app recording audio in background.
• Fixed a bug where iOS would resume audio processing when the app comes to foreground, even if TNC was disconnected previously.
2.1.2 2020/11/16
