良い！が、惜しい！
Windowsとの同期など、やはり便利です。また、AIに聞ける機能もサクッと使えるので、検索ワードが難しい場合など重宝します。
ページ内検索などSafariの方がやりやすかったなぁと思いつつも、慣れの問題でもあります。
…が、残念なことがあります。
windowsのauthenticatorを使ったクレジットカード情報やパスワードの入力などをすると、エラーになるサイトがあります。(例えば郵便局のe転居の申請などはマイナポータルに飛びますが、そういうのでもエラーになります)
おそらくサイト側でのuser-agentを参照した処理が上手く行かなくなる所為なので、edgeのせいではないと思うのですが、ぶっちゃけどっちがとかユーザーには関係がないので…。
結局現状私の中では、動作保証されるSafariが標準ブラウザ*という地位は揺るいではいません。
*QRで読み取ったら標準ブラウザで起動しますし、いちいちエラーが起きたらコピペも面倒
便利なブラウザなので頑張って欲しいです。
翻訳とBing
以前の環境
iOS(iPhoneとiPad)とmacOS(MacBook)でSafari,Windows機(デスクトップ)でChromeを使用
上記の問題点
・別途パスワード管理ソフトを使うかクラウド経由で同期しなければブラウザ毎に登録されているパスワードやブックマークが異なる
・iPhoneで開いているタブをじっくり見る際にPCに共有したくなるが、MacBookでなく Windows機の大きい画面で見ようとすると手間が増える
その中で
①Edgeが以前のようにContinue on PCアプリとの連携ではなく単体でタブの共有が可能になった
②Chromeの拡張機能が使用可能
③Bingを使えばそれだけでポイントが貯まってアマギフやゲーパスと交換できちゃう
ということで全機Edge統一にできればなーと思いながらiPhoneでは追加でBingアプリを使ってみた感想です。
良い点
・上記の通りタブ共有が楽
・加えてDropによりOneDrive経由でファイルも共有できる
・拡張機能もPC版で問題なく動いている
・Safariの新規ページにお気に入りページのアイコンが並んでいるのは使いやすかったが、Edgeでも8個までならカスタマイズにより同様のことができる
・開始ページのカスタマイズでフィードをオフにできる
悪い点
・翻訳に失敗することが多い
・そもそも外国語を認識せずに翻訳しようとすらしない
・一度翻訳に成功すると他のブラウザのアドレスバー付近のボタンで原文表示と切り替えができるような機能はない
・Bingの検索結果がユーザー数で勝りデータが集まりやすいGoogleに劣るのは仕方ないとして、検索バーとそれに伴う×ボタンが小さく、検索ワードの一括消去がしづらいなど細々と使い勝手が悪い
・デフォルトだと検索ワードの補完機能が邪魔でしかなく、「ほか補完き機能」のような入力になる上に設定変更へのアクセスが分かりづらい
・リワードのためにBing(アプリ)とBing(エンジンを選択した上でモバイル版のEdge)とBing(を使ってPCのEdge)のそれぞれで検索をしなければならないが、せめてモバイル版の2つだけでも統一して良かったのではないか
といった感じです。デスクトップ版はサイドバーでOfficeやGoogle Driveがアプリのように開けて、わざわざ別タブを開かなくてよかったり、垂直タブバーで整理がしやすいかったりと気に入ったので、モバイル版の特に翻訳機能さえどうにかなってくれれば全機Edge統一にするのになと残念に思いました
Too slow
Opening web pages feels so slow, and even fails. multiple times. It always happens when you first start the app but then after it loads a bing search, it all came back to normal… until you decide to close it and leave it there until it closes itself and opening the app just results in slow web pages again.
Honestly i like it, but being suck at it’s one job just loses it’s charm.
Also, the Bing Chat / Copilot doesn’t show up on the front page, i want it to be a specific button just like the PC version, NOT when you search for something. it’s just slower & annoying. and you know you gonna run into problems liek the chat suddenly dissapear when scrolling, or not even show up at all and stuck in the loading screen even before you actually get the search result.
