Many Muslims today feel disconnected from their deen — reciting Qur’an without understanding, being taught rituals like a passed-down culture, and being completely surrounded by temptations of the dunya. This has led to obsession with this temporary world and little focus on the life after death.
MyDeen revives the love of Islamic learning by following the methodology of the legendary scholar Imam al-Ghazali, who wrote the most popular Islamic book of his time, Ihya Ulum al-Din. He wrote this book because he saw that Muslims were not connected to the religion like the Sahaba, and so he taught Islamic topics that Muslims needed to hear in a beautiful way. This allowed him to transform people’s hearts with God’s help.
We are also applying principles from the most popular education app, Duolingo, which taught 500M people new languages through bite-sized lessons. Everything on MyDeen is designed so that Muslims can benefit greatly from it even if they spend only 5 minutes every 2 or 3 days learning from it.
