Lingoal turns current authentic media for native speakers into powerful language learning personalized for you. Master a new language through real-life content while embracing its culture. No other language app features more media types than Lingoal.
Open a media item, say a pop song, singalong with the text lyrics. Words are marked with smart color cues to help you focus on the relevant words for your skill level. Tap any word to understand its meaning. Then automagically turn the new words in the song into a deck of flashcards. The learning algorithm will then update your Personal Learning Profile so that the color cues reflect your individual language model as it grows.
When you learned the absolute basics with Duo and are ready to take your learning to the next level, Lingoal has content for basic levels with the latest music SONGS and VIDEOS, intermediate levels with daily NEWS ARTICLES and for the super advanced learner there are captioned PODCASTS and EBOOKS.

The scale used for the Personal Learning Profile is the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and its levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. Example: If you state level A2 during onboarding, Lingoal assumes that you want to learn all the words associated with this level (marking them with YELLOW color cues). The app also assumes that you know all the words on all levels below the selected one (A1, GREEN). It also assumes that you still don't know any words on the levels above (B1-C2, RED). Naturally this is an approximation, so you can always change the state of a word to correctly reflect your knowledge in all media you are using in Lingoal.
Lingoal supports learning ENGLISH, FRENCH, GERMAN, SPANISH, ITALIAN and SWEDISH from many, many languages you already know.
