This app is FREE to use, and will connect you to bean to bar chocolate makers and business all around the world. It’s intended for anyone to use, from the public to those within the industry. Read on to learn more. What is bean to bar? The term “bean to bar” is used to describe chocolate makers who make chocolate from scratch, that is, from the cacao bean, with a focus on fine flavour, fair relationships, and ethical practises. These people are at the forefront of a revolution in chocolate, and we want you to take part in it, one bite at a time. Most chocolate shops in the world (over 90%), from New York to Tokyo, are known as chocolatiers/chocolate melters. They don’t actually make their own chocolate. Bean to bar makers do, and they are rare, but growing! Think of bean to bar makers as speciality coffee roasters, fine wine, or craft beer breweries. This app allows to find bean to bar business all over the world. This means you may find new makers in your own city that you never knew existed. It also means that if you are traveling somewhere for work or pleasure, you can check the app to see if there are any incredible bean to bar makers nearby you book into your itinerary! The map is constantly growing, so check back regularly and watchout for new makers and business. LOCATE - The map is simple and straightforward. Use your fingers to zoom in and out, and to click on a pin. You can also use the “search” feature if you know the name of the business you are looking for. Once you locate a maker, a description box will pop up which includes: ● The street address (if applicable) or city it is based in ● Whether they have a retail store and/or online shop ● Link to their website or social media account ● A brief introduction to the company ● Other features that will roll out in the future, including promotion codes applicable to specific businesses CATEGORIES - Perhaps you yourself are a chocolate maker and need to source cacao. Or you want to know where the closest bean to bar trade show is located. This map also includes various categories that go beyond the makers, and encompass many other equally important bean to bar businesses.
