This new release is small - some bugfixes and performance improvements made to speed up the app, use less battery and make it more stable overall.

The first release of 2026 brings the introduction of characters! In addition to stories, packs and categories, the inclusion of characters now allows you to find out more about certain people in history that have made massive contributions. The new version also includes some work in the background to improve load times and general stability of the app.

The 'Today in History' section has been updated to show images for the biographies to give a bit more information about the people who have influenced history. Other fixes are 'under the hood', and just help improve load times, caching and other things to make the app more enjoyable for you!

Two major additions to the Chunks app with this release. Firstly, you'll now see a 'Today in History' section on the Home screen and in the Explore screen. Each day gives you an insight into the events, the notable births and the notable deaths that had occurred. This feature gives a new insights and opportunities to learn more with Chunks. The second addition is dark mode, making it easier to use the app without the risk of eye strain in darker environments. It has been the number one feature request since the initial app release. We've been hard at work adding more content and more features! - Playback Settings have been updated, so now you can auto-progress through chapters - You can also now manually adjust the volume levels for background music, speech and sound effects - We've added custom app icons in the Profile view Dark mode is not yet fully implemented, but we've started work!
