Main Street Yoga Studio opened in 1996 and offers a variety of yoga classes for beginners to more experienced students. You will enjoy the view in our lovely studio in Historic Downtown Bloomington. Our teachers have extensive training with a minimum of 200 classroom hours, but most have much more training than that. They all come with a vast knowledge of how to keep the body safe and make adjustments for physical considerations or other needs. This is why our classes lend themselves to serve a broad range of skill and ability. Many of our clients stay with us well into retirement because they have been given the space to allow their practice to evolve with them. Classes include: Gentle yoga, Restorative, Moderate, Meditation, Vinyasa, Yin, Prenatal and Beginners. We even offer Pilates twice a week! All classes allow time for a complete yoga experience. We also provide blankets, straps and blocks to make your experience as comfortable and effective as possible. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace, without competition or pressure. We teach a style of yoga called Kripalu/Pranakriya. It is a meditative based practice using renunciate techniques in a modern way. We can trace our lineage all the way back to Shiva! It's important to know, each of our classes are unique from each other, as we work to change-up the sequencing to move the body in a more dynamic way with muscle confusion-which is also safer on the joints. This policy also helps strengthen your mind by creating new neurotransmitters. All of our classes have a strong pranayama (breathwork) component where you can meditate and carry your meditation into your practice-thus having a ‘meditation in motion’ experience. This is as true for our gentle classes, as it is for our Vinyasa classes. We also offer regular workshops and events to create new ways for students to explore their practice. In addition, we offer 200 & 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training on site through the Pranakriya School of Yoga.
