I would like to ask a question regarding the new memory system. In future versions of ChatGPT, will users still have the option to choose the previous memory system instead of the new summary-based one, or will the new summary system eventually replace the old memory entirely? If the latter is the plan, I would like to share some feedback. I believe this change may negatively affect a portion of ChatGPT users because not everyone uses ChatGPT purely as a personal assistant for work, studies, or everyday tasks. Many people also use it for creative projects. In my case, the automatically generated summary mostly repeats information that I have already provided in my profile, such as my field of study, interests, and general background. At the same time, it does not include information about my long-term creative projects, original characters, fictional worlds, and story lore, even though these topics make up a significant portion of my conversations with ChatGPT.For creative users, writers, worldbuilders, and roleplay enthusiasts, structured memory containing specific facts can be much more useful than a broad summary of the user. A summary may describe the user, but it can overlook the information that is actually most important for future conversations.I understand why summaries may be useful for many users, but I hope the option to keep using the previous memory system will remain available in the future.
