George R. R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas come to life in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a new Game of Thrones spin-off series on HBO Max.

Quick take: Peter Claffey stars as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall, a small-town commoner who embarks across the countryside to prove he’s worthy of knighthood in one of the great houses of Westeros. Dexter Sol Ansell plays Egg, a plucky adolescent with a royal connection who joins Dunk as his anointed squire.

Don’t miss: More Targaryens! Although the show takes place almost 100 years before the original Game of Thrones series and nearly a century after House of the Dragon, the notorious noble family looms large, especially Prince Aerion “Brightflame” Targaryen (Finn Bennett).
