Having trouble getting and maintaining the ACT you want with a single dose of heparin? This app helps. This application has been used for over ten years in a cardiac catheterisation laboratory to achieve a desired activated clotting time (ACT) within the range of 300 - 400 seconds after a single dose of heparin over 86% of the time. If the Act falls short, it can be used to reliably give the next dose that will achieve the desired result. At completion of the procedure, it reliably indicates a dose of protamine that will return the ACT to the pre-heparin state.
