Every score built for YOUR diet, not the average one. Groceries, snacks, and restaurant menus — all backed by peer-reviewed nutrition research.
PantryScore turns the barcode on any packaged food into a single 0–100 score backed by established public nutrition databases and a transparent, science-based methodology.
How it works
Point your camera at a barcode and PantryScore pulls the product's full ingredient list, nutrition facts, additive profile, and processing classification, then runs them through a three-pillar model. Everything happens on-device after the lookup. There is no account to create and no profile to fill out.
Restaurants — not just packaged food
PantryScore covers thousands of restaurant menu items too. Search a chain, tap a dish, and see the same honest 0–100 score, the same allergen flags, the same per-serving macro breakdown. From fast food to sit-down chains, you finally get to compare what's actually on your plate against what you'd buy at the grocery store.
The score
Every product is scored on three pillars:
— Nutritional quality (75%) compares the per-serving macros against established daily-intake guidelines from the WHO and the American Heart Association, calibrated against the Nutri-Score scale.
— Additive load (20%) flags red-tier (banned or restricted in some jurisdictions), orange-tier (linked to inflammatory or metabolic concerns), and yellow-tier (commonly used but worth knowing) additives, and applies the NOVA processing classification.
— Ingredient quality (5%) reads the ingredient text for refined sweeteners, hydrogenated fats, and ultra-processed markers.
The result is a number that means something: a fresh apple scores in the 90s, a soda scores in the teens, and a fruit-and-nut bar with no added sugar lands in between rather than getting punished for "being packaged".
Honesty principles
Whole-fruit products are not penalised for natural sugar. Olive oil, honey, and maple syrup show authenticity guidance instead of a score because they are too often adulterated to score fairly. Restaurant dishes are classified by preparation method (grilled vs fried) rather than blanket-labelled as ultra-processed.
What it shows you
Per-serving nutrition that matches the label on the package or the menu. Allergen detection across the nine major U.S. allergens — for both groceries and restaurants. A glossary that explains every additive in plain English. Favorites and history kept on-device.
What it does not do
No accounts. No ads. No tracking. No third-party analytics. No data sold or shared. Your camera feed never leaves your phone.
PantryScore is informational. It is not medical advice and does not replace guidance from a registered dietitian or physician.
