Anyone can scan it and join in their browser — no install, no signup — and pick their items right alongside everyone else. - The form now shows every step from the start with numbered placeholders and a hint for what to enter next. Save, and you land right on the new expense. - The Groups tab now opens with a larger Groups | Friends switcher — flip to your friends list with a single tap. - Add a phone number or email so friends can pay you back with Zelle. Already have a phone number on your profile? Flip a toggle to reuse it. (Zelle works in the US only.) Choose how your expenses are ordered — newest or oldest first, highest or lowest amount, or by name A–Z or Z–A. It's available from the Filters on the Expenses tab and from a new sort button inside each group, and the app remembers your choice for each.

* Fixed the date field on the record-payment and edit-payment screens looking out of place — it now uses the app's font and a single calendar icon. * Fixed scanning a receipt with a service charge, auto-gratuity, or surcharge line item getting stuck and never saving.

Bug fixes and improvements

Backdate payments, see their details, and a smoother way to split receipts. • Set the real payment date — when you record a payment or settle up, choose the date money actually changed hands. Cross-currency payments even use that day's exchange rate. • Tap any payment to see its details — who paid whom, the group, the date, when it was recorded, and the note attached. Made a mistake? Either person can fix the date or note. • Claim receipt items with a tap — on a shared receipt where everyone claims their own items, each item is now a card you tap to claim (adjust the quantity to share a dish), with a running total that includes tax, tip, and fees. A simpler receipt flow — and split together in real time. Splitting a scanned receipt now walks you through three clear steps: choose who's splitting, assign the items, then confirm the details. • Split with nearby friends — after scanning a receipt, start a live split. Friends nearby get a tap-to-join invite and claim their own items right from their own phones, updating live. When everyone's done, the bill divides to the exact penny — tax and tip included — and one expense is created for the whole table. • Your household, right in the picker — pick it like any friend, with an "Includes you" tag. It counts as one person in the split, and you're never counted twice. • "Who paid?" where it belongs — choose the payer on the final details screen, for every kind of receipt. You can now pick any friend you've added, or your household — not just yourself. • Comma decimals — amount entry now follows your device's decimal separator, so the calculator and every amount field work naturally in every region. Plus 20+ fixes: household splits now divide by the number of people in them, tax and tip previews match what everyone actually owes, guest names display correctly, notifications for deleted receipts no longer get stuck loading, and more.

Households are here, the biggest update since launch! WHAT'S NEW • Households: Add a household to any group split, friend expense, or Quick Split. Let the household pay or owe, and settle the whole household balance in one go. • Let everyone claim their own items: Scanned a shared receipt? Pick who was there and let each person tap the things they ordered. They can split a dish by quantity. You finalize to lock in everyone's share, and anything unclaimed is easy to cover at the end. • Link Quick Split names to real friends: When a Quick Split has a placeholder name, you can now link them to a real friend from the expense details or right from the Settle Up screen. Their balance becomes a real balance you can settle. • See how your balance is calculated: Open a group's Balances tab and tap "How is this calculated?" to see exactly where your number comes from and how debts are simplified into the fewest payments. ALSO IN THIS UPDATE • Accept or decline a friend request right from search results, no need to hunt for the request first. • Record a payment between two guests who owe each other from the group Balances tab. • When you're the only one in a group, SplitterUp now shows a one-tap nudge to share an invite link. What's new in 1.19.0 — Archive what you're done with Quick Splits and groups you're finished with don't have to clutter your main screens anymore. Archive them in one tap, find them again whenever you want, and let SplitterUp gently suggest archiving groups that have gone quiet. • Archive Quick Splits and groups. Hide a settled Quick Split or finished group from your main view without deleting anything — balances and history are preserved. Find archived items under Profile → Archived items and unarchive any of them with one tap. • Quieter groups get a nudge. Groups with no activity in 30+ days get a gentle suggestion to archive. Tap Keep to dismiss for another 30 days, or Archive to tuck it away. • Settle Up now leads with payments awaiting your confirmation, so the action you need to take is always at the top. • Quick Splits archived in older versions now sync across all your devices instead of living only where you dismissed them. • Android push notifications now actually arrive. If you've been on Android wondering why you never got a heads-up about new expenses, payments, or invites — they'll start coming through. Sorry about this one!

Under the hood improvements and security hardening

What's new in 1.17.9 • Settlement cards on a group's Balances tab now show Remind, Pay, and Mark Paid buttons directly — no more tapping a card and getting nothing. • Mark Paid now works on the web. • Group invite cards disappear from your dashboard the instant you accept the invite. Stale cards no longer linger until refresh. • The amount field on the Record Payment screen no longer gets pushed above the keyboard • Fixed the amount field being hard to click on the Record Payment screen on the web. • You'll now get a notification when someone records a payment to you, so you can confirm or reject it. • Password reset email links now work everywhere. • Web users on desktop can now see the full Privacy & Security panel, including Change Password.

Fixed an issue where editing a Friend expense and switching who paid to the other person didn't actually save — the original payer kept showing as the payer. The change now persists and balances update accordingly.

Heads up: some balances may look different. We restored missing historical exchange rates on a small number of older non-USD expenses, so a few of your group balances may have shifted. The new numbers reflect the rate from each expense's date. Settlements you've already recorded still apply unchanged. We've smoothed out a bunch of rough edges when you're splitting in more than one currency.
